ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater Making movement dance and making dance move--on stage and in the classroom!

Dressed for class! If you haven’t met our newest dancer, you are in for a treat. Analise “Estelle” has big shoes to fill, but she’s leaping ahead, one step at a time. She’s already twirling, standing on her toes, and charming her way into everyone’s hearts. Now she just has to learn to stay quiet during class(!).

Daisy was irreplaceable, but there are so many sweet, deserving dogs out there who just want to be loved. Special shout-out to Bobbi And The Strays for all the work they’re doing to find every dog and cat a home. We were so impressed with how well cared for, well behaved, and loved every dog and cat who walks through their doors is. Their Queens location is small, but their crates are always full, and most dogs are only there a couple of weeks before they’re scooped up by someone delighted to love them.

Who was it that said, "You may be one person to the world, but you're the world to one person"--?? Check out their Queens location for small dogs and cats and their Long Island location for larger dogs, and give one a home ❤️🏠🐾

Thrilled to welcome Mika Foguel to our Dance Explorers Team!

Mika is an emerging dance administrator currently pursuing her master’s in Performing Arts Administration at NYU. She discovered her love of dance at age 13, taking hip-hop classes at Broadway Dance Center and Peridance. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree at Wesleyan University, where she studied dance, film, and education. While there, she co-directed a three-day Variety Dance Show that drew an audience of 800 attendees, an experience that helped her discover her calling in dance administration. Mika also brings a wealth of experience working with children, having worked in both afterschool programs and summer camps as a dance specialist.

Welcome Lexi Vesselinov! Lexi grew up in Port Washington, NY, where she trained in ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. At the University of Virginia, earning a B.S. in Chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry, along with minors in dance and data science. While at UVA, she was a member of the Dance Program and directed and choreographed her own full-length spring concert. She went on to spend summers working with the Bates Dance Festival Professional Training Program.

Lexi is currently pursuing an M.A. in Individualized Study at New York University, where her focus is dance and physics—how bodies move and why they move the way they do. Now based in NYC, she continues her dance training through studio classes at NYU Tisch, Gibney, Peridance, and Alvin Ailey. In addition to choreographing contemporary and modern dance, Lexi enjoys teaching young students.

In class, Lexi works to help students understand technique through imagery and sensation, while leaving room for them to experiment and make choices of their own. So happy to have her on our Dance Explorers team this year!

Adventure into holiday magic!

Auditions for our 13th Annual Nutcracker are Friday and Saturday, Oct 2 & 3. This is where the team aspect of a young dancer’s training takes center stage, and its afterglow will carry them through the year.

Participation is open to current students only, and placement auditions and the parent meeting are both mandatory.

Trial a class today! There are still fall spots open in Ballet, Tap, Creative Dance, Modern, Jazz, Rhythm & Moves and our Dance Explorers After-School program for dancers who would like to be involved.

Meet Sydney! Sydney Sullivan (she/her) is a lifelong dancer and educator whose training began at age two and grew into extensive pre-professional study in both the Vaganova and Balanchine traditions. She trained in ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, and character, attending summer intensives with American Ballet Theatre and Joffrey Ballet. She performed throughout her teenage years and has taught dancers of all ages and levels since.

As an educator, Sydney strives to create a classroom that is warm, encouraging, and grounded in strong technique. She believes that thoughtful training can help dancers build confidence, musicality, and a deeper sense of creative and emotional expression. Outside the studio, Sydney holds an MS degree in Strategic Communication and has extensive professional experience working with youth through arts and nonprofit education. Thrilled to welcome her to our Ballet Faculty this year!

Brooklyn Families, Family Day fun is for everyone—new, prospective, and returning families.

It's your chance to visit the studio with your dancer and watch a class before the year begins, when you’ll be dropping off at the door to the facility.

Look forward to free class samplers, exhibitions, and a ballet bun workshop for those feeling lost, rusty, like there must be an easier way—or that it’s time for dancers to learn how to do their own hair (!).

You’ll meet key studio personnel and be able to slip in a classwear fitting so that your dancer can spend a little more class time dancing that first week.
