Dear Music Lovers,
Due to health challenges, you haven't heard from me for a number of months. Checking in to let you know I am feeling much better, and I am beyond grateful for the help of my fellow teachers in my voice studio and my bandmate Geoff for holding down the fort while I've been undergoing treatment.
Seeing as it's Giving Tuesday, I wanted to tell you more about an important initiative to which I am even more dedicated as changes in our economy and school funding have caused less students to be able to afford music lessons. My teaching studio has been able to fund scholarship students these past years thanks to private donations through our fiscal sponsor, who makes it possible for IVA Voice and Music to accept tax free donations.
I'd like to open up this opportunity to the entire IVA community as it is so important for our continued ability to meaningfully connect through music.
You can make a tax free donations by visiting our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas via https://fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/iva-voice-music/
The IVA Voice and Music Studio Scholarship Fund makes musical instruction and mentoring available to students based on their talent and desire and not their ability to pay. As many schools have defunded their music programs - access to music lessons is more important than ever. We offer voice, piano, guitar, acting, songwriting, and artistic development from multiple teaching artists, giving students a wholistic, enriching experience, helping them find their authentic voice.
Having studied at music conservatories I know that weekly private lessons are a vital part of a performer’s development. It can make the difference between getting the schooling or the work a musician needs to thrive. I’m striving to make this vital training more accessible through the IVA Voice Scholarship Fund.
For example, Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington, DE does not offer voice lessons as part of its curriculum. If students have the means they can look outside of the school for private vocal coaching. I have provided lessons for these students over the years and would like to offer the opportunity for lessons to more students at the school who haven't had the means to fund private voice lessons.

If you care to donate, you can donate as you wish. You can also support specific students if you have someone in mind, or can discuss with me students in need. Or, if you know of a student who would benefit from music lessons, please send them our way.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
**AN UPDATE ON SWEETEATERS NEW RECORD! While I've been ill I've not been able to be in the studio for the mixing process, and my bandmate Geoff has continued mixing until I could return this past month. The record is sounding awesome and we can't wait to share it with you.
**AN UPDATE ON THE OPERA - I continue to work on the libretto with excellent artistic support, and have begun composing more music for the opera. I've had to take a break due to my health, and am looking forward to composing again as I continue to feel better.
Sending love to you all! Thank you for your support!
