November 3rd 1979. Greensboro, North Carolina. Members of the K*K and American N**i Party opened fire on labor organizers preparing for a demonstration and educational conference organized by the Communist Workers Party (CWP). Five labor organizers were killed in what is now known as the Greensboro Massacre. Sally Alvarez, a survivor, documents the tragedy, and the complicity of the local police and federal government in her film “Red November, Black November.”
This screening is in conjunction with Soho Rep and their musical production “The Potluck” by César Alvarez, a new musical featuring a 12 person intergenerational cast that conjures the soft side of the revolution, and tells a story about what to do when the government is actually trying to kill you.
