We are thrilled to announce that Dante Green & Eric Shethar will join Peter Mills Weiss as Co-Directors of The Brick 💫 We are very excited to have 3 working artists and active members of our community collaborating to continue to fully realize our mission and shepherd the organization into its next era 💫

“Having orbited The Brick Theater as a director and producer for the last three years, it is a privilege to begin working from the inside out to continue supporting the groundbreaking, genre-bending artists that make this organization the pillar that it is. And to be sharing this privilege with Peter and Eric? Two visionaries whom I have considered mentors in the field since I first moved to New York— I mean, pinch me.” —

“The Brick is one of the performance spaces I’ve been going to regularly since moving to Brooklyn fifteen years ago. After co-curating and collaborating with Peter for the last decade, and being lucky enough to present Dante’s incredible work, I’m so thrilled to join them, alongside staff members Lydia Mokdessi and Cameron Stuart, to ensure the Brick remains a vital, rigorous space for artists of all disciplines for years to come.” —

“I’m thrilled to be in partnership with Eric and Dante. Their unique skillsets and vantage points on live performance will make the Brick a more sensitive and responsive institution moving forward.” —.mills.weiss

We hope you will consider supporting The Brick as we grow—any gift will help to ensure our thriving as we reaffirm our commitment to supporting NYC’s most adventurous artists ❤️‍🔥 Donation link in bio ❤️‍🔥

without mirrors
by Jerry Lieblich
starring David Greenspan
playing Feb 12-28
at The Brick Theater
running time 60 minutes
$20 tickets available with code ERLYBYRD through Jan 17

without mirrors is an experimental solo play written and directed by Jerry Lieblich (The Barbarians, Mahinerator) and performed by 6x OBIE winner David Greenspan.  In 60 minutes of gleaming shadow, a lone character speaks a jagged poetry from what they think is a cave — though in truth they aren’t sure.  Without light, without sensation, without context, reference, or clear memory, their isolated mind runs at full throttle, asking: what am I?

Jerry Lieblich – writer/director
David Greenspan – performer
Kate McGee – set and lighting designer
Johnny Gasper – sound designer
Kathleen Capdesuñer – producer
Emily Lawrence – associate producer
Caren Celine Morris – stage manager
June Buck – graphic design
Cecil Howell – zine design

In these waning hours of 2025, we want to thank you for being a member of our audience 💛 extra GIANT thank you if you have already contributed to our end of year fundraiser 💛 The work we do does not happen without community, and we hope you will help us reach our 2025 fundraising goal — we have $11,658 to go to set us on a strong path for 2026

💓 End of year giving alert 💓

It’s that time of year when institutions like ours ask for support for the work we do. We cannot do what we do without community, and we need your help to reach our $25,000 fundraising goal—we have $21,004 to go 🤑

It has been an intense year for The Brick: leadership has transitioned, we endured a small electrical fire that shut us down for a month, the funding landscape has massively shifted, and the NEA (famously) rescinded our grant for our ?!:New Works program.

But! We have persevered: our organization’s mission and trajectory were prominently featured in , highlighting ‘s incredible show, “Mikey Maus in Fantasmich.” “Jewish Plot,” a show we were proud to present in association with Lucas Katler Productions, was included in top ten shows of the year. ’s “Crossing the Water” continues its successful run at The Brick Theater thru Dec 21. Our Brick Aux space is raucous and overflowing.

The core of The Brick is our radical YES to artists. We say yes to risk, yes to difficulty, yes to folks with non-traditional practices. As we move into 2026, we have no plans to change that. Up next is , a thrilling month-long experimental theater festival lifting up NYC artists. ‘s “without mirrors,” starring the inimitable David Greenspan, will animate our space in Feb. We can’t wait to share with you what else we have planned for 2026.
