Now in our 59th season, we bring quality theatre to Brooklyn at an affordable cost. Featuring classic and contemporary plays, musicals and new works.

Gallery Players has provided Brooklyn audiences with quality theater since 1967. Gallery is dedicated to producing classic and contemporary plays and musicals as well as premiering new works. The season comprises summer Shakespeare, plays and musicals covering a remarkably wide range of dramatic and comedic styles, and the annual Black Box New Play Festival, which gives world premiere performances

of works by playwrights. Gallery resides in a 99-seat theater in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Gallery's reputation, critical acclaim, and popularity among audiences and artists puts it in an enviable position among its volunteer-only and Off-Off Broadway comparables. Its eclectic programming of intimate revivals and ambitious new work in inventive productions has earned it the reputation of "New York's Best Kept Secret." Among its famous alumni are founding member Harvey Fierstein; Broadway regulars Nancy Anderson, Jeffry Denman, and Diedre Goodwin; New York theater personality Seth Rudetsky; and many others.

Gallery Players is holding auditions for its upcoming non-equity production of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT – THE MUSICAL.

Book by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott. Based on the Latent Image/Specific Film motion picture distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Director and Choreographer, Ryan Hendricks; Music Director, Lorenzo Pipino; Producer,Dominic Cuskern.

This production is non-equity. There is a one time stipend of $100.

Gallery at Home returns Wednesday June 3, 2026 for a special TONY Awards edition!

What happens behind the scenes of the Tony Awards nomination and award process? Join Dr. Barrie Gelles for an evening explaining how it all works while watching featured Tony performances and discuss famous nominations from the past 60 years!

The course materials will include archival photographs, video clips, and more! There are no required assignments and no required reading! This session will be conducted via zoom. Dr. Barrie Gelles is a theatre scholar, educator, director, and dramaturg with a PhD in Theatre and Performance. Barrie teaches musical theatre history, theatre history, acting, directing, and public speaking at many NYC colleges; she currently teaches at Baruch College, Marymount Manhattan College, and NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. She regularly presents her research at the annual conferences of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and the American Society for Theatre Research.
Barrie directs new musicals, rarely produced musicals, and re-envisioned revivals of musicals wherein she uncovers a new story while remaining loyal to the original text. At Gallery Players she has directed The Baker’s Wife, Seussical, Marry Me a Little, A New Brain, Once Upon a Mattress, Little Women, and Metamorphoses. She also created and continues to curate Overtures, a new musical developmental reading series at Gallery Players.

Players’ Shakespeare, an arm of Gallery Players in Park Slope, is holding auditions for its upcoming production of Hamlet by William Shakespeare.  This production is Non-Equity. No pay.

Rehearsals will start on June 27th and typically will be in the evening during the week and in the day during the weekends.

The show will run from July 31st – August 7th.

Director, Dominic Cuskern.

OPEN CALL auditions will be held in-person at Gallery Players on the following dates:
Thursday June 4th from 7-10PM
Saturday June 6th from 1-5PM
Thursday June 11 from 7-10PM
Saturday June 13 from 1-5PM

Prepare a one-minute verse monologue from any play by Shakespeare: it can be either dramatic or comic (whatever shows you off at your best).
Sign up will start 30 minutes prior to the audition start time.  Please bring a resume and headshot.

Callbacks will be held on Sunday, June 14th at the theatre.
