Citizen Arts and Education was thrilled to co-produce From Sky to Earth as part of the Citizen Arts International Festival, bringing James Brandon Lewis and Antoine Le Menestrel together at MADE Bush Terminal for a one-of-a-kind encounter between music, movement, and the industrial architecture of Brooklyn’s waterfront.

We’re so grateful to James, Antoine, the Cie Lézards Bleus artistic team, the MADE Bush Terminal operations and event staff, Villa Albertine, The Zankel Music Fund, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, the Theatre and Performance Program @ the CUNY Graduate Center, and, of course, everyone who joined us for the performance.

We are already planning to take From Sky to Earth to other places and other landscapes in 2027. Stay tuned.

Citizen Arts + Education is thrilled to be co-producing the world premiere of FROM SKY TO EARTH as part of The Citizen Arts International Festival. This dynamic project brings together esteemed US jazz composer and saxophonist James Brandon Lewis and French vertical dance pioneer Antoine Le Menestrel (Cie Lézards Bleus), in a new interdisciplinary work commissioned by Citizen Arts International.

The piece unfolds as a live conversation where improvised music meets vertical dance and architecture in public space.

Date + Time: Saturday, September 12 @ 5pm
Location: NYCEDC's MADE Bush Terminal (Sunset Park)
FREE!!

From Sky to Earth is supported by FUSED, a program of Villa Albertine and Albertine Foundation. Additional support is provided by the The Zankel Music Fund and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.

We’re thrilled to see the inaugural Citizen Arts International Festival come to life this September, and we’re proud to be a co-producer of this exciting new celebration of international performance, participatory art, and cultural exchange in New York City. www.citizenartsinternational.org

Through this collaboration, Citizen Arts and Education is helping bring bold, interdisciplinary work from artists around the world into the everyday spaces where New Yorkers live, gather, and connect.

Featuring seven projects across New York City, the festival will transform parks, plazas, streets, and civic spaces into places for extraordinary artistic experiences—free and accessible to all.

We believe art has the power to bring people together, activate shared spaces, and create new possibilities for connection across communities. We can’t wait to welcome audiences throughout New York City this September.

We're back from our residency at the Catwalk Institute where we did a work-in-progress presentation of a new work, Salomania, conceived and written by our Co-Artistic Director Meg Araneo. It was a beautiful experience. We are so grateful to the Catwalk Institute family (Shiela, Victoria, and Chuck); the Thomas Cole National Society House; our creative team Tony Torn, David Skeist, Michael Mullen, Jess Applebaum, Edison Hong, and Chance Kester; and the those who came up to the Hudson Valley to support us. Here are a few photos of the event and our time at Catwalk. More to come . . .
