LayeRhythm Freestyle-based performances between musicians, emcees & street/club dance practitioners.

LayeRhythm Jam was created in 2015 in NYC as a monthly “brew of partying and performing that unfolds as a series of interactive sessions in which suggestions from the crowd beget songs and steps. In 2019, creator Mai Lê Hô took the project from its club roots to the stage with The LayeRhythm Experiment ensemble, featuring prominent dancers who have won world-class competitions in breaking, hip-hop and house dance. They are accompanied by musicians and emcees at the forefront of NYC’s funk, hip hop, jazz and soul scenes.

Street Dance x Rap x Beats 3v3 invitational battle

FORMAT
Each battle team is made up of 1 dancer, 1 emcee, and 1 producer. After each round (from quarter to semi finals), category winners are reshuffled into new teams, except for the final round where the winning team is crowned as a unit. Rounds are themed/game-based. Winners each receive a $400 prize. DJ sets before and after battles. No open prelims, all battle participants are invite-only. Attendance is open to the public.
