Excitement is in the air!

Artistic Director Joyce King with the talented artists of JKDC,
Kelly Hogan, Emma Gordon Maggie Fischer McKenzie, , and Strouse have been in the studio working on JKDC's latest project!

King invites 25 audience members to join us for a complimentary performance at NYCCD on Wednesday, October 22nd, 7:00 PM, for JKDC's special event - our first studio showing of new works-in-progress, followed by an audience discussion, refreshments, and snacks.
Please note that seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Life can be complicated … and I felt odd promoting a performance JKDC will be in today - until I recall Frankie lived in the moment and as I hear his voice in me I share proudly as I am so proud of these two lovely souls who stepped up for me during this time while I was away, and to my daughter Sydney who composed the music for the work and to trusting us with her words. ‘Monsters’ Thank you to Creative Performances for inviting us to be a part of ‘Threat to Democracy’. Lives often get complex or just plain busy …and often social media is left behind.
I realize we had yet to share here past exciting news that I was awarded a New York State Council on the Arts Support for Artists Grant! - very honored to be a recipient of the following:

Brooklyn, NY - Support for Artists grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support my creative work- two new choreographic sections.
Through New York State’s continued investment in arts and culture, NYSCA has awarded $82 million this year to 509 artists and 1,497 organizations across the state.

With the support of NYSCA, I have begun the creative process of developing this choreographic work to be shown in 2025
Thank you NYSCA for awarding this opportunity to me - we are hard at work

Additionally we were invited to perform a new work as part of Creative Performances ‘Threat to Democracy ‘ a collaboration between Spoken word artists and choreographers on June 1st - Dixon Place! - Manhattan
