The Farmers’ Almanac recently released their predictions for Winter 2026-2027 and it supports Direct Weather’s forecast that calls for The Great Lakes seeing colder conditions, fast-moving clippers, sudden cold snaps, and snowy periods. Cleveland and NE Ohio can expect arctic blasts to be pretty frequent and may face one of the season’s most complicated winter patterns. Because temperatures may frequently hover near freezing, precipitation type will be especially difficult to predict. A slight change in temperature or storm direction could turn a cold rain into an icy mix—or transform a slushy snowfall into a significant winter storm. The Great Lakes region is set to experience frequent fast-moving clippers, sudden snow squalls, blustery winds, and brief surges of bitter cold.
