It was humbling to perform “Anne Frank: A Living Voice” by Linda Tutas Haugen, yesterday at Temple Avodat Shalom. We did the piece as a part of a Commemoration of Kristalnacht, and there were many talks and remarks given before the piece. It’s always incredibly moving to perform this, but yesterday it was particularly emotional to be performing it in this synagogue, after hearing stories of Kristalnacht and the Holocaust. It was a day to remind us all to never forget the horrors of the past. Thank you all so much, to everyone who helped to make this such a special day.

🎉 EXCITING NEWS 🎉

After 20 years of making treble in Brooklyn, first as Bella Voce Singers, then as BVS Women's Choir, and with year+ of introspection, we felt a strong call to examine our group’s mission. Through this process, we realized our choir needed a new name that reflected our revised mission statement.

Three words encompass who we are, show pride for our home, and display our intention for inclusivity. We are:

Commissioned as part of a multi-national consortium, composer Michael Bussewitz-Quarm
and lyricist Shantel Sellers based the 5 movement musical work upon Margaret Sartor and Alex Harris' book of the same title.

Through the lens of Hugh Mangum, a white, self-taught, itinerant photographer who set up makeshift portrait studios in the railroad towns of North Carolina and Virginia during the Jim Crow era, "Where We Find Ourselves" explores the racially and economically diverse clientele featured in his photographs.
