Meet this Saturday’s headliner — Alton Miller

Detroit-based producer and House Music pioneer Alton Miller has played a fundamental role in defining House Music for over three decades. Raised in Detroit, he developed his DJing skills under the electrifying energy of House Music’s founding fathers, often going to Ron Hardy’s Music Box and Frankie Knuckles’s private loft parties in Chicago.

In 1988, he opened the legendary Music Institute in Detroit with Chez Damier and George Baker, and has since built a deep connection to South Africa’s house scene through the Alton Miller Foundation.

Foundations at Elsewhere is still on our minds, thanks to Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale and a set that ranged wide, with a heartfelt nod to her Detroit roots that had the whole room jumping. So many beautiful faces and amazing people in the crowd made this one one for the books.

Third Floor Sounds: Foundations made its way to Elsewhere, and what stayed with us was the feeling in the room. Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale closed the evening with a headline set that ranged wide across house and dance music, with a heartfelt ode to her Detroit roots woven throughout. Real connection, real music, and a story worth remembering.
