What happens when a chamber ensemble takes on Aphex Twin not as a remix, but as a physical, acoustic experience?

Stefan Freund’s "Unremixed" pushes that question. Written as the finale to our Acoustica program at the Lincoln Center Festival, the piece channels the energy of electronic music through instruments alone and blurs the line between human performance and machine sound.

You’ll hear fragments of Aphex Twin refracted through the ensemble, alongside the extended techniques we developed to “play” electronic textures live. It’s not a remix, it’s something stranger, more physical, and uniquely ours.

"Unremixed" is part of Lift, our 25th anniversary release, a snapshot of the composers inside the band who have shaped our sound from within. This is the sound of 25 years of collaboration, curiosity, and creative risk.
