Overdriving the Premier 90 for that garage tone! Somehow it’s clean and dirty at the same time?

sounding great out in front of the kit! Just a little and some compression from the . snare to round it out.

This spring reverb unit sounds amazing! Full deep reverb that sounds like your in a cave. This needed a decent amount of work when I got it. Replaced a broken 6EU7, new filter caps, replaced noisy plate resistors, rewrapped the loose heater wires and added some shielded wire to help with noise. If you want a dense vibey landscape of a sound these units are for you. Thanks to for the tube and help dialing this circuit in!

Bought this Watkins Copicat for dirt cheap off reverb. It was sold as non functioning and took me a bit to figure out why. Turns out the record head had died. After talking with John Beer at Echo-Fix he suggested that while I search for a new head I use one of the playback heads as the record head and viola, we have echo. Preamp is nice and dark and sounds great through the champ! Anyone know where I can get a replacement head? Let me know!

Endless inspiration with the Poly D. I enjoy it in mono mode like the original. Set your LFO and tune your oscillators to thirds and fifths and space out!

Century old NOB Ludwig snare drum couldn’t sound any better through a RCA 44. Kick and toms by the great sounding . Smidge of spring reverb from the Furman RV-1.

Wow just finished my second M49C! Both sound amazing and I can’t wait to put them to work. I’m thinking stereo drum overheads asap! The best part to me about having a pair of these is listening to the effects of components in a circuit. Currently these are both identical except for the new M49s capsule is slightly lower in the headbasket. Just snooping around the forums and looking at photos online I’ve noticed that on my first build the capsule looks a bit higher than it should. So for the past day I’ve been listening to both side by side to hear the differences. None of the tests are super scientific and accurate, but listening for the trends that carry from one test to another I believe can get you a good picture. My initial conclusion is there is most certainly a difference in sound. It is very slight, but to me the it’s the last 5% of a product that takes it from great to excellent. So these small changes to me make a big difference. Changing the sound at the microphone is my top priority before I patch in an EQ for a compressor. If you’ve made it this far in the text bravo! Super nerdy stuff here and I love it. If you’d like a recorded clip with these two mics side by side send me a message and I’ll get you a Dropbox link. But be warned there’s some not so great singing in it 😎
