Congrats to my friend on the release of her new EP of covers, entitled “Under Cover”. This was one of the early full band projects I recorded at coming out of Covid isolation. Wonderful memories of the joy and excitement in the room to have so many talented musicians playing together again. Cheers to the whole dream team .wiz

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since I opened Degraw Sound. I rarely take time to look back, but a decade of creating records and memories in this space with so many dear friends feels worthy of some reflection and gratitude.

Thank you to all of the artists who put their faith and trust in me to be a part of their records, musical journeys and lives.

Thank you to all of the session musicians who have become part of the “Degraw Sound Wrecking Crew” and who have worked with me to bring so many records to life.

Thank you to the freelance engineers and producers who took a chance on working at Degraw Sound in the early days and helped me get the studio off the ground.

Thank you to my studio brothers - Gian, Harper and Charlie who have given so much of their lives and brilliance to making Degraw Sound what it is and who have helped me along the way more than I can ever thank them for.

Turning to the future, I’m happy to share that I’ve signed a lease extension and I'm looking forward to the next decade of record-making here at Degraw Sound.

With love,
Ben Rice

Recorded this live version of “Where We Are Sometimes” with back in the old days when people could do these sorts of things. This also happens to be my favorite tune on their new EP “Pre-Mortem High” — if you haven’t listened yet, please do, it’s so good! Video magic by the legend:

The Beatles used these waffle irons to record drums so naturally we do too. The Coles 4038 sound delicious on pretty much everything we put them on, so they get used around here quite a bit!

One of our go to amps — this Fender Vibrolux has made an appearance on pretty much every guitar based record we’ve made here. Our friend has taken such good care of it over the years and has it totally dialed in.

Always one of our favorite guitars. Our Gibson Les Paul 1959 VOS is a super versatile instrument. Les Paul’s have a reputation as rock and roll machines, but with the volume rolled off it delivers everything from shimmering, glassy clean tones to chime and twang
