Let’s be real, women of color do the most so beautifully. I spoke to someone a couple of weeks ago and told them they do the most. They were instantly offended. See we’ve turned something that’s so amazing about WOC into a negative. Well I’m turning it back. WOC keep doing the most. This world, creativity, fashion (the list goes on) wouldn’t be anywhere without your most.

I was finding myself in spaces that I didn’t want to be. In search of a space I would soon create. You see that is how lacking becomes a blessing. Lacking makes you get up and do something about it. Now I have the opportunity to break bread with amazing people through something I created. Something with a purpose of changing the world (one plate and conversation at a time).

When I was a little girl dreaming of living in NYC, I saw myself in rooms like this. A party full of fashion, beauty, good vibes and purpose. Who would of image that future me would be creating spaces I once imaged.

Last NYFW I had the opportunity to host 20 amazing women of color for the 2nd dinner party in .byyolande dinner series “let’s do lunch”. The theme for the night was the Art of Doing the Most and guests showed up to show out in their best versions of doing the MOST! As we gathered and broke bread, we discussed the diaspora’s ability to do the most so beautifully and effortlessly. Our main goal for the night was to discuss how to dismantle the negative views on this topic that makes our culture so unique.

I am so grateful for each and every woman that was present that night! My goal for “let’s do lunch” is to build a supportive community and we did just that! Thank you to my sponsors for providing the food and for the beautiful space! Also thank you to for capturing the night so beautifully!
