The Longofono siblings have decided it's high time we run our own poetry-centric reading series. Between us, we know so many phenomenal writers, and we're dead-set on building a platform for other folks to know, too. It's called WEIRDD (second D is silent) and it will take place monthly at Books are Magic on Smith St. in Boerum Hill / Gowanus. The aim is to highlight the twisted, odd, and off-kilt
er in poetry—poems that not only get squiggly, but also commit to it. English is not the law. This is a space for all languages, with or without an English translation. That includes ASL (or other sign languages) and code. We also plan to project weird(d) s**t, at the performers' discretion. In addition to 2-3 poets, each event will also feature a lecturer on various topics such as community activism, the esoteric, and/or arts crossover. The affect: immense rigor and attention bespeaking loving-kindness.
