Let’s celebrate the next cohort of designers leaving behind the stages of academia and busting into the field of professional theatre. We come together as a community of designers and theatre makers to support them through this transition. One of the ways we do this is to gather. Join Wingspace and National Design Portfolio Review for a celebratory mixer. There will be drinks, games, prizes, music and mingling! We’ll be joined by some amazing special guests including National Black Theater, Estefanía Fadul, Jason Ardizzone-West, La Gente, Anonymous Ensemble, and more.

Wingspace Facilitators Tanya Orellana, Kate Freer, Lux Haac, and Nora Marlow Smith will be our hosts. This celebration is open to all. Whether you are just entering the field or have called the theatre your home for decades, you are invited! Presented by National Design Portfolio Review and Wingspace Theatrical Design.

If you’re in NYC this Friday, join us for an art build!!!

Over the two days of Fall of Freedom, Wingspace will facilitate the creation of a collective multimedia manifesto. By engaging the constellation of designers, directors, and dramaturgs across the United States, we can create something that is not only visually stunning, but shouts with the power of our collective voices that WE REFUSE AMERICAN FASCISM and we PROMISE to continue to collectively RESIST.

If you are in NYC, you are invited to join WS at the Old American Can factory to create content in community. There will be art supplies and snacks! 4pm on Friday November 22nd at 232 3rd Street, Brooklyn.

Manifesto content can take any form: images, videos, writing, drawings, photos of projections, sculptures, audio… whatever you can dream. You can contribute something as simple as words on a Post-it note. Or as involved as hosting an art party using the WS example framework. However you are able to participate, thank you!

🚨Next Saturday🚨 Join us for WS Virtual Salon 44: Our Collective Manifesto

This is a call to action for the Wingspace Community to participate in Fall of Freedom. As theatremakers who come together around the shared values of design, community, and activism, this is an opportunity to activate our super powers across this wide network of world builders on a scale that echoes the gravity of this moment. Art is a tool for social change and civic engagement, so let’s make some art and shape some change.

On November 22nd after two days of collective demonstrations we will come together for a virtual salon, where we can share and witness all of the Fall of Freedom offerings from across the nation and view the complete manifesto. Join Wingspace organizers and Virginia Grise for a conversation on collective action and the power of manifesto.
