From the artist: “Lotic is named for the process of shifting, navigating, and growing in moving water. I wanted to make an album that flowed like a good DJ mix, that you could put on and just let it play.

The music is all downtempo and cohesive. I produced the album in my home studio on the Lower East Side. Many sounds on the album are from the real world, including percussion created from tools in my dad’s workshop, samples made from voicemails, and sonic texture made from chopped-up outtakes of my vocals.

My goal in creating this album was to thoroughly enjoy the process, to have fun, to try new ideas and sounds, and to create what I wanted to hear in the moment.”
