l. Serving as a Cultural Ambassador of an island whose name translates to “mountainous country”, La Troupe Zetwal brings together percussionists, dancers, folk singers, storytellers, artisans and homecooks to demonstrate the power of Haitians cultural heritage. THRUST The main goal of La Troupe Zetwal’s Administrative Team is to consistently generate activities which unify people with sounds and movements. We want to give people to experience traditional practices in contemporary spaces. For the next two years the Executive Director will focus on a) Working intently with the founders vision as well as enlist and cultivate a small staff whose responsibility will be to ensure access to a myriad of resources. The bedrock action is to work collaboratively with other Culture Bearers and Community groups whose purpose is united by arts and culture. Additionally, we join our programs with measurable results. These are methods to increase competence in how we share the cherished traditions of enslaved African descendants and explore interests which expand programs to match broader audiences. Currently, La Troupe Zetwal presents three events annually - performances mounted on Haiti’s Vodoou traditions, private drumming lessons and a summer drum and dance program. Monthly on second Saturday evenings, the company hosts an open class FREE so that aspiring dancers within the community have access to participate in an energizing cultural practice. Anyone can sign-up to participate. In the coming year two more activities will be added to the roster. La Troupe Zetwal endeavors to bring unprecedented program offerings for the public’s enjoyment. We are aware that people on the precipice of their livelihoods want to feel significant. We want to motivate them by filling the cracks with relevant youth and families activities.
