Introducing the director of RENAMING SHAIM at Broadway Bound Theatre Festival - PHARAH JEAN-PHILIPPE!

A Brooklyn native of Haitian descent, Pharah Jean-Philippe has a diverse entertainment background which includes acting, directing, writing, teaching and producing. She is currently the Founder and Artistic Director of Modern-Day Griot Theatre Company, an experimental, interdisciplinary theatre company that is committed to expressing the human experience by using the storytelling art-form of the West African Griot.
A proud member of Actor’s Equity, New York Women in Film and Television, it is her hope to produce work that will entertain, educate and heal.

Pharah is delighted to direct Renaming Shaim, which she describes as "art that excites, inflames and heals."

ATTENTION NYC BASED PLAYWRIGHTS!

THERE ARE STILL A FEW SLOTS OPEN for the 10 week session of the Modern-Day Griot Theatre CompanyPlaywrights Lab starting this Tuesday. The sessions are Tuesday nights 4/3-6/5 from 7-10pm at South Oxford Space.

The cost is only $75 and there is an option to participate in a public staged reading (at no cost to you) at the end of the session.

This is not a class, it is a peer reviewed lab led by playwrights Stephanie Bok and Pharah Jean-Philippe designed to help early to mid-career playwrights develop one work for the stage over the ten weeks. We have a robust roster of talented actors who are invited to read and fellow playwrights give feedback.

In order to be considered, we ask for a short writing sample from a play you have written or are working on, a brief bio and a statement describing of the piece you intend to work on during the lab. Send all materials to Stephanie Bok - [email protected].
