🎈 Off to a new home! (Never mind my inept screenshot... !!)

I painted this at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden a few years ago, just when it was starting to warm up and daffodils started to come out. It's always cheering in early spring to see new growth pushing out of the ground.

Never mind the shimmering, it's wet paint! Finished a commissioned view of .... Can you guess which corner in a brownstone Brooklyn neighborhood?

Details were added over time as the painting developed. Some things were mandated from the beginning. It was fun to have some of the elements left open-ended, and for the painting to "tell me" what it needed for it to be a lively, but calm early morning scene.

❄️ Are you on Team Snow or 🚫 Team No More Snow?

🖼️ New painting!! Snowy Dog Walk is an ode to all you dog owners and your beloved pets who head out multiple times a day, come whatever nature throws at you.

This late afternoon scene captures the low winter sun casting deep shadows, but also lending bright splashes of light onto the snow and brightening the sky. Admittedly a meager attempt to warm us up. 😅

I say "Let It Snow" if it's winter!❄️ But I would appreciate daily temps higher than 25F 🥶.

Which is the re-painted version? I "finished" the painting a year ago. Every time I looked at the painting and the actual view, I felt that the painting didn't adequately represent the warm, glowing early morning light (even after having varnished it!).

So, a couple of weeks ago, I carefully removed the varnish (yay, thank you for developing an easy to remove varnish!), and re-painted the parts bathed by sunlight. The difference may be subtle (these photos didn't exactly help), but I am so much more pleased with the result. In a week or two, I'll varnish it ... Again!

Run, don't walk to Gowanus Open Studios! It's a gorgeous day to head to the neighborhood to meet lots of artists (like me!), check out an incredible array of art in one afternoon, and stop by some of the new(-ish) fabulous shops and cafes like , , .
📍 543 Union St, ENTER THRU ALLEY ON NEVINS ST (go around the corner and you'll see signs, or head to 280 Nevins St and the alley is between the buildings. Visit my friends showing at 280nNevims, too!!)
