OPEN CALL: Shaving Feet: The New African (2020)—our upcoming film program.

Ways of Seeing (WOS) is a series of screenings that aims to showcase and present the films of women of color as a way to bridge community support and artistic visibility. Throughout our series we bridge gaps by creating programs that immerse and introduce everyday people to filmmakers, creating a reverence for themes needed to be seen for greater and sustainable communal growth.

Shaving Feet: The New African is inspired by the disconnect between film as the future, and our collective past. As a concept, Ways of Seeing believes film is a form of premonition, rooted in intuitive knowing. Lightening ‘heavy feet’, which is our ancestral data post-slavery, detainment, and industry tells us about our natural gifts, gifts that are rooted in the knowing of an old world.

We look for short narrative and documentary works
