In perhaps the most blistering attack on the reggae Grammys to date, Jamaican reggae icon and veteran singer Freddie McGregor has lashed out at the 59-year-old American institution, calling the reggae arm of the organisation that typically awards excellence in the music industry, "an embarrassment of indescribable magnitude to reggae music".

The Hollywood Carnival Parade is the West Coast's largest multicultural festival, celebrating the traditions and cultures of the peoples of the world, including those of the Caribbean diaspora. This was our first time covering the parade, and we must say that we were pleasantly surprised. Definitely will be on our list of parades to cover.

So VICE Magazine attended the parade, and as expected, they chose to highlight the most salacious aspects of the festivities. Articles like this are the reason why Ryan and I go out to the Parkway each year to cover the event. Unfortunately even though we all live in the same city, the larger media outlets really don't understand our West Indian culture, our heritage or our people. This is why we think it is important to show the other side, to show some balance. Stay tuned, we'll be uploading our pictures soon. (Dwayne)
