🥳 Final Day of the inaugural Ocean Music Summer Academy! In the afternoon, our wonderful participants of the Concerto Program performed their concerto movements with the Ocean Music Festival Orchestra conducted by Maestro Tianhui Ng Tianhui Ng . After the group dinner, we concluded our ten-day journey in the evening with the Closing Ceremony Concert followed by the presentation of certificates, featuring student performances and Lavignac’s Galop-marche for piano eight-hands performed by Prof. Ifat Zaidel, Yun Wei Yun Wei , Jiayan Sun Jiayan Sun and Yang Liu Yang Liu ｜刘洋 ! 💐

👍 Second-to-last day of the inaugural Ocean Music Summer Academy! We started the day with the legendary Jerome Lowenthal, the 94-year-old master and longtime Juilliard professor, giving a masterclass, including the 7-year-old Olivia Li Olivia Li who was recently admitted to the Curtis Institute; in the afternoon, Maestro Tianhui Ng Tianhui Ng led the Ocean Music Festival Orchestra in “The Young Pianist’s Guide to the Orchestra” followed by open rehearsal of piano concertos performed by participants in the Concerto Program; we also had our last two Student Concerts in the gorgeous Greenfield Hall of MSM. 👏

📣 Join us for the final day of the Summer Academy on August 13, with the Concerto Concert at 3 PM and the Closing Ceremony Concert at 7 PM in MSM! 🥰

🎵 Eighth Day of the inaugural Ocean Music Summer Academy! In the morning, Maestro Tianhui Ng Tianhui Ng led a workshop on orchestral score reading and concerto performance issues from a conductor’s angle, followed by “conductor’s sessions” where the concerto soloists rehearsed their concertos with Maestro Ng, Concertmaster Samuel Vargas Samuel Vargas and piano accompanist; a group of faculty members and students toured the famous Steinway factory Steinway & Sons in Queens; Prof. Ursula Oppens gave a masterclass in the afternoon, followed by our third Student Concert. We concluded the day with a Faculty Concert given by Prof. Ignacy Gaydamovich Ignacy Gaydamovich , Kyung Kim Kyung Ran Kim , Yang Liu Yang Liu ｜刘洋 , Jiayan Sun Jiayan Sun , Samuel Vargas, Yinfei Wang Yinfei Wang , and Ifat Zaidel, followed by a celebratory faculty dinner! 🫶

7️⃣ Seventh Day of the inaugural Ocean Music Summer Academy! We started the day with Prof. Michael Kim and Kyung Kim giving an interactive workshop on collaborative musicianship for pianists; Prof. Ernest Barretta gave a masterclass in the afternoon, followed by our second Student Concert. In the evening, Prof. Ignacy Gaydamovich, Kyung Kim, Michael Kim, Jiayan Sun, Jun Sun, and Yun Wei gave an amazing Faculty Concert featuring works of solo piano, two pianos, and a cello/piano sonata! 🎻
