Vase of Flowers transports us to the birthplace of Cubism and the beginning of Picasso’s serious interest in the still-life. The setting is a corner of his studio at the Bateau-Lavoir, the rundown building in Montmartre where he painted Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907, The

“Picasso: Still Life” is an exceptional new publication curated and authored by Ross Fi*****io and Delphine Huisinga, founders of Castille Art Research.

This richly illustrated volume includes an extended curatorial essay by Fi*****io and Huisinga, as well as nine additional texts, each devoted to a single work. Accompanied by installation views, illustrations, and comparative images, these contributions further illuminate the enduring significance of the still life within the practice of one of the most influential and versatile figures in the history of art.

Published by Almine Rech Editions Belgium in collaboration with FABA – Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, this catalogue is issued in conjunction with Picasso: Still Life, held at Almine Rech New York from May 1 to July 18, 2025. Organized in collaboration with Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the exhibition was curated by Ross Fi*****io & Delphine Huisinga, Founders of Castille Art Research.

Summer liberation! One of the MUST SEE works at the Costume Art exhibition in the Met is “Nana and Serpent” (ca. 1992) by French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle.
Carved from painted marble, this joyful, voluptuous figure embodies the artist’s celebration of feminine strength, freedom, and vitality. Through her iconic Nanas, Niki challenged conventional beauty standards, transforming the female body into a powerful symbol of confidence and life.

The exhibition explores how the corpulent—or “fat”-body has been viewed throughout history: at once celebrated and marginalized, linked to fertility and abundance while also burdened by social judgments surrounding gender, class, race, sexuality, and power. Rather than presenting the body as something to be corrected, these works invite us to reconsider it as a site of beauty, identity, resilience, and cultural meaning.

Remembering Mary Whitfield (1947–2023)
November 5, marked two years since the passing of the remarkable artist Mary Whitfield, whose watercolors gave voice to the silenced and the unseen.

Whitfield’s tender yet powerful works illuminate the depths of human resilience and the quiet strength of Black motherhood, history, and spirit. Her legacy continues to move hearts and minds.

🕊️ In her honor, PSAP is preparing a solo exhibition at 62 Eighth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217, in conjunction with the upcoming Online Viewing Room (OVR) for the Outsider Art Fair New York 2026.
