Yesterday I met with Sulé who is one of my first student when I just started in the classroom 2017 . A young zealous teen eager for knowledge. Fast forward to 2026 and I find that he still has that same fire burning inside. And I am just so proud of you and glad that I was able to share apart of your journey.

A portrait in progress held together by warmth, memory, and moments left intentionally unresolved.

Queen Nani
A vision of ancestral sovereignty and quiet defiance. This painting honors Queen Nani as strategist, protector, and spiritual force her gaze turned toward futures shaped by memory, land, and survival. Layered textures and luminous foliage hold her between concealment and emergence, echoing Maroon resistance and the power of collective freedom. She is not frozen in history; she is present, watching, guiding.

Painted as an act of remembrance and reverence.

Shango Bros!!! — Work in Progress ⚡️🖤

Channeling the power and brotherhood of Shango through color, gesture, and myth. This piece is still unfolding as I build the layers and let the story reveal itself.

Some paintings feel like they arrive with their own rhythm… this one came in loud, fierce, and unapologetic.

More updates soon — stay tuned as these brothers take shape. 🎨🔥

“Ritual of Repair”

This sculpture brings together two worlds that are often seen as opposites: ancestral knowledge and contemporary healing. Framed between horn, clay, shell, and fiber, a modern surgical scene sits at the center—torn, mended, suspended asking where the true sites of restoration live.

It’s a meditation on survival, memory, and the layered technologies our communities have always used to care for the body and spirit.

Honoring tradition. Confronting modernity. Holding both.

“ This panting explore the intersection of mythology, symbolism, and the spiritual unseen. Through layered textures and coded imagery, these works invite viewers into a contemplative space where art becomes both portal and reflection.”

🎨Drawing Club: Sketching the New York Cultural Landscape

•Materials are included•

The Drawing Club is an open and inclusive space for artists, students, and community members to gather and explore New York’s vibrant cultural landscape through drawing. Each session will be rooted in observation—whether sketching in museums, parks, cultural institutions, or city streets—inviting participants to engage directly with the rhythm, people, and architecture of the city. The club will emphasize experimentation, encouraging members to use drawing not only as a tool of representation but also as a way of discovery and storytelling. Through shared practice and conversation, participants will expand their visual language while deepening their connection to the diverse cultural fabric that defines New York.

✨ The journey continues—each canvas, each sculpture, each idea shaping me as much as I shape it. Grateful for the lessons, the growth, and the chance to keep creating. This is only the beginning.
