Last Friday, we hosted a book launch for MUSKISM: A Guide for the Perplexed followed by a conversation between Quinn Slobodian and Ben Tarnoff, moderated by Joshua Citarella.

Elon Musk. A troubled dreamer. A power-hungry, vengeful bungler. A hero who became a villain; a villain who became a hero. What if he isn’t any of these things? What if he was more like, an idea? An avatar for a world view, the master code for an operating system. It’s one that Quinn Slobodian and Ben Tarnoff are calling MUSKISM: A Guide for the Perplexed.

Amant is excited to present SIX TO NINE, our annual series featuring live DJ sets that take place throughout our campus.

Next Friday, May 8, the New York-based collective Worlds Collide will bring three distinct DJ sets rooted in seductive, hazy textures and moody atmospherics sounds to Amant’s courtyard. With a focus on interplay and intuition, the trio shapes an intimate and expansive, grounded in atmosphere and gradual progression.

Entry is free; all are welcome.

Last Wednesday, Amant New York Spring Resident, Selma Selman .selma, presented Letters to Omer, an ongoing performance project in which the artist addresses a figure named Omer through a series of spoken letters. Using her body, voice, and language, Selman speaks to someone who is never present; an ambiguous figure who exists somewhere between reality and imagination.

The performance concluded with three traditional Bosnian sevdalinka songs dedicated to Omer, sung by Maša .

Last Wednesday, Amant New York Spring Resident, Tomaso De Luca , presented The Erotic Philosophies reflecting on his encounter with the archive of the late American photographer Miles Everitt (1912–1994) and the complex and contradictory stances that it presents: sexual drives and racial hallucinations, fetishism and intimacy, neurosis and q***r imagination, regressive fantasies and desires of liberation.

The performance was followed by a conversation with Drew Sawyer , the Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
