I’m on cloud nine after doing my first dance performance since Covid! I got to perform for the first time at Ailey alongside other fabulous New York dance educators.

I performed one of the historic solos in my repertoire, “Never Sign A Letter Mrs.” (1939) choreographed by Hortense Lieberthal Zera. One of her daughters attended the performance which made it extra special!

I also premiered a new work inspired by Horty’s dance titled, “Thank You For Your Sweet Note.” Both dances used text from Emily Post’s Book of Etiquette.

My husband and neighbors attended, I got to see so many people that I haven’t seen in years, and I made new friends too. It was the perfect International Dance Day!

🥳 I’m performing “Never Sign A Letter Mrs.” (1939) by Hortense Lieberthal Zera at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in NYC on Saturday, April 29th at 7pm. I’m adding another piece on, choreographed by me, which is going to be a suprise. It will also use text from Emily Post’s book of Etiquette.

I haven’t performed, except with my middle school students, since before the pandemic so this should be fun! 😁

The tickets are FREE but must be reserved in advance.

🕰 52 years ago Anna Sokolow premiered her “Magritte, Magritte” concert at Towson State College. Today Jason Bahling and I are thrilled to premiere the screendance we made of a dance from that show called “Ideas of an Acrobat.”

👁 I have been honored to dance “Ideas of an Acrobat” for the last 11 years. Jason and I are so happy to have been able to memorialize the piece as a dance for camera where Anna’s original vision could be pushed further. We want her work to live on for generations to come.

🎬 Save the date for our Anna Sokolow Dance Film Premiere: May 21, 2022!

On Saturday, May 21, 2022 we are premiering our long awaited dance film "Ideas of an Acrobat" in NYC! The screendance is based off of the 1970 solo of the same title by Anna Sokolow from her "Magritte, Magritte" concert which incorporated dance, music, poetry, and painting.

We cannot wait to finally share this film with the public!

Shows will be at 2pm and 7pm at Hunter College.

If you want to see Jason and me, plan to come to the 7pm show. (I will be performing at the Dance Parade with my middle school dancers during the 2pm show.)

Oscar wants everyone to know he is helping daddy finish mommy’s Anna Sokolow dance film. Oscar says that it is taking a long time to get all the details just right because Mommy is a perfectionist, the technology to blend painting with live action is extremely complicated and each frame takes at least 12 hours to render-whatever that means. Woof! 🐾
