I’ve never liked orange. That saying about orange being the new black has never EVER resonated with me. But lately I’ve been very drawn to these specific shades.

On the colour wheel, orange/yellow sits in contrast to blue/purple hues. I can’t help but feel like this mirrors my current emotional state. I’m not sad anymore. I’m not depressed. But from the vantage point of pain, loss, grief, and melancholy endings, the joy that’s flooding into my life feels potent, powerful, and all consuming. It beckons me forward; an amber glimmer on an otherwise indigo horizon.

Do you believe in signs? 👀

You know that moment where something deeply serendipitous occurs and you’re like “omg it’s *fill in the blank according to your world view*!”

I’ve been having a lot of that recently 😅 a lot of dreams and strong “feelings”? particularly towards peacocks. 🦚 so after an extensive deep dive down the Google rabbit hole (cause we don’t research on Chat GPT over here) I found out that peacocks are seen as divine messengers in some cultures.

Heralds of transformation. Symbols of beauty, divinity, a power, and used as a means of identifying royalty, affluence, and wisdom.

And how does all of this have ANYTHING to do with me? It doesn’t really 😅 maybe it has a lot to do with YOUR circumstances right now. But I think that’s point. Whether it’s a peacock, a fish, a butterfly, or a big stone…sometimes things keep reoccurring until we make time to notice them. Notice the patterns. Then use them to inform your next step.

I felt very called to create this. Maybe it might confirm something for you. Or point you along a journey. Whatever message it sends to you, know that it came through me with nothing but love. And I wish you luck as you take these next few steps forward.

What a day😍
I’m still recovering but a proper recap is on its way soon 🙏🏽 in the meantime, I just want allyuh to know, BLACK GIRL ART SHOW OWES ME NOTHING !!!!!!!

The team is great, the set up was wonderful and the crowd actually buys. I’m so grateful for these opportunities, for getting to inspire the artsy teenage black girls and show them that they don’t just have to stay in their rooms creating- they can get out there and be successful. They can be seen 🥹

Cheers to a colourful 2026 ✨

First piece of the year complete. Someone asked me recently what my creative goals were for 2026. It’s really simple- explore every idea without pressure or expectation to excel. Creativity thrives on novelty. The creative mind needs exploration. It needs challenge. And it needs space to stretch out and take up space without worrying too much about the outcome.

For a really long time, I would curb my creative ideas to paint only what was “marketable”. I’d view each piece in terms of money and time spent on materials, vs what someone would be willing to pay for the subject matter, and how well it would do in the social media feeds.

I should have been viewing my art from the POV of whether or not I liked it. And whether or not I enjoyed making it. And what I learned about myself, about art, and about my Creator in the process.

So this year I’m approaching the canvas/wheel/book/ipad/whatever else from a different POV. Hopefully you like it. No hard feelings if you don’t.

This piece reminds me of summer for so many reasons!

Growing up, summer vacation meant that my sisters or cousins would braid my hair so that it would last for weeks even though school was out.

Most times, I’d spend some of the days watching shows like The Proud Family (doesn’t she give you a sort of Gross Sisters vibe?)

And lastly, something about 🩷💛🧡 these colours reminds me of mangoes and citrus and sunshine…
