Single and video out Friday! Fort Point Channel is aLeRtZ’s new single, written in a Boston hotel room overlooking the channel itself. The piece grew out of a simple thought: how much of the world has been shaped by the act of moving across water.
The video builds that idea into a living system. It begins with an animated astrolabe and unfolds into a procession of maritime tools and vessels; early rafts and dugouts, compasses and sextants, clipper ships, steam power, and finally the modern infrastructure of global shipping: container vessels, gantry cranes, GPS buoys, and the quiet machinery that keeps the world connected.
These elements appear first as solitary studies, then interlock into shifting grids as a procedural atlas of how humans learned to navigate, trade, explore, and imagine beyond the horizon.
This is part music video, part mechanical dream, part speculative archive.
Created with help from concepts introduced in ’s tutorials, a generous resource for artists, respect and thanks!
