The Home Project: Sunset Park

To honor and celebrate our beloved homes and neighborhood, maybe even with a touch of nostalgia, I invite community groups in Sunset Park to participate in an extensive Place Keeping project.

The Home Project is being made available to community groups throughout Sunset Park. Materials will be provided for families and businesses to take part in a series of free printmaking workshops. During a workshop, participants will imagine their idea of home and transfer this idea to a collagraph printing plate. Collagraph plates will be explained and built using heavy stock paper, scissors and glue. Plates will then be inked and printed on paper and a simple fabric flag to take home to hang on walls, in windows or on flagpoles. Through this act of making and displaying art together, a deeper sense of community and allegiance will be heartfelt and visible throughout the neighborhood.

I hope we can get together to capture our sentiments of Sunset Park.
