📌 Join us! March 18th from 6 to 8pm at 1408 Dean Street for a conversation with local renowned architectural historian, Suzanne Spellen.

🏠 The unique 1870’s Second Empire townhouse at 1408 Dean Street, once home to ardent abolitionist and Frederick Douglass confidant, Hiram Crozier, sits on a very special block in Crown Heights North (once part of Bedford).

Join us in uncovering the rich history, wealth of architecture, and vibrant mix of personalities that have made this Dean Street block so fascinating.

About the Speaker:

Architectural historian, writer, researcher and tour guide, Suzanne Spellen specializes in the architecture and history of Brooklyn, especially Central Brooklyn, where she lived for over 30 years. She has been a valued and popular writer for Brownstoner.com since 2009. She is the recipient of Historic Districts Council’s 2015 Grassroots Award, and a double recipient of a NY State preservation award. Suzanne is also a board member of Brooklyn’s Crown Heights North Association, which spearheaded the landmarking initiative in that neighborhood.
