Several Gateway artists attended this week's annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month Reception at the Massachusetts State House. Artworks by Gateway artists, Barbara Brown, Amy Caliri, Chuck Johnson, Kayla Johnson, and Carmella Salvucci were presented to this year's honorees who were recognized for their commitment to inclusive employment. Thank you to the Permanent Commission on the Status of Persons with Disabilities for inviting us to be a part of this meaningful event.

Pictured here is artist Amy Caliri (second from left) with MA State Senator Joan B. Lovley and MA State Representative Sean Garballey, who each received a piece of her artwork.

The creative synergy that emerges every day in Gateway Arts studios is the heart of our program. Thanks to grants from the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation and the Virginia Wellington Cabot Foundation, studio art facilitators worked one on one with artists over the last year, expanding their practice and exploring new media. The results are the focus of this exhibition.
