NEEDS IMPROVMENT
Friday, May 1st @ 7:00 PM
Brookline High School
22 Tappan Theater

Needs Improvment, an upper level drama class at BHS, will take you on a wild ride through short-form improv activities, as seen on tv shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway?, as well as longer format improvised scene work. Be sure not to miss it, because the ideas for the stories come from you, the audience — you suggest a molehill, we’ll make a mountain; you suggest straw, we’ll spin gold. And as always, what gets performed on Friday will never be performed again!

Under the direction of Michael Driscoll and Nina Bishop, Brookline High School’s Camerata Choir and Advanced Chamber Orchestra present a powerful and deeply moving performance of Missa in tempore belli by Joseph Haydn.

Composed during a period of great political unrest in Europe, Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War” captures both the anxiety of its era and an enduring sense of hope. From its urgent, driving rhythms to its moments of luminous serenity, the work offers a profound musical journey that feels as relevant today as it did over two centuries ago.

This performance showcases the remarkable musicianship of Brookline High School students, featuring soloists from within the Camerata Choir and the rich collaboration between voices and orchestra. Together, they bring to life Haydn’s dramatic contrasts—intensity and tenderness, fear and faith—in a performance that is both thrilling and deeply expressive.

Join us for an evening of music that speaks across time, inviting reflection, connection, and inspiration.
