🎨 Painting Youth Camp starts July 20, and we'd love to see a few more young artists join us!

Over four mornings, campers will explore acrylic and watercolor painting while learning about color mixing, brushwork, texture, and composition. They'll create multiple finished paintings inspired by landscapes, animals, and their own creative ideas!

Sibling discounts and scholarship assistance are available for all, email us at [email protected] for more info.

🌈 Happy Pride from the Brookings Arts Council!

We’re proud to celebrate creativity, inclusion, and self-expression, not just this month, but all year long! 🤗

While we won’t be at Pride in the Park this year, we’re still joining the celebration! Find us on Main Avenue during the Brookings Bonanza on June 27, where we’ll be offering some pay-what-you-can Pride-themed face paint options, including flag designs!

The BAC is made up of artists, students, teachers, staff, volunteers, and community members from all walks of life, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. We believe everyone deserves to feel welcome, valued, and able to express themselves creatively and authentically.

Happy Pride Month! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Summer camp season is almost here! ☀️

Our first youth camp of the summer kicks off July 6, and there are still spots available in Ceramics Youth Camp. Over four mornings, campers will learn hand-building techniques while creating sculptures, creatures, bowls, cups, and whatever else their imaginations come up with.

No experience needed. Just bring clothes that can get messy and your imagination!

Full and partial scholarships are available. Email [email protected] for more information.

If you haven't made it in to see "Art As Healing" yet, there's still time!

This exhibition has been one of those shows that rewards slowing down and spending some time with it. In addition to work by several artists exploring healing, resilience, and connection through art, featured artist Theo Gins has transformed our East Gallery into a version of his actual studio, complete with sketchbooks, works in progress, furniture, manuscripts, and a 9-foot crocheted skeleton that visitors are invited to gently touch, flip through, and even participate in.

"Art As Healing" will be on view through July 2, 2026

Gallery hours:
Thursday & Friday: 12–5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 2–5pm

Admission always free; stop by and spend some time with these poignant works.🌻

Got a pottery project rattling around in your brain that you just haven't had time to start?

Our Independent Ceramics Study meets the last Sunday of each month from 2-5pm through August (so far!) and is designed for people who already have some clay experience and want dedicated studio time. Bring your ideas, make use of our tools, glazes, and kiln, and have an instructor nearby if you need a little guidance along the way.

Projects can be functional, sculptural, weird, practical, or somewhere in between. We love all of it.

Upcoming Dates
- June 28
- July 26
- August 30

Your next group activity doesn't have to be another meeting room, restaurant, or bowling alley...! 🎨✨

Whether you're planning a team building activity, holiday party, scout troop outing, birthday celebration, staff appreciation event, or just a creative night out with friends, we can help create an art experience that's a perfect fit for your group.

We've hosted everything from company holiday parties and workplace team activities to Girl Scout groups; we've even had the privilege to host a bachelorette party! Whether it's pottery glazing, canvas painting, watercolor, trinket dishes, or pottery wheel throwing that piques your group's interest, we'll work with you to find the right project and date for you.

Make something together, learn a new skill, and leave with memories (and artwork!).

Participate in our Community "Quilt" Project!

The Library will have booths at a couple community events this month where attendees can design their own cardstock “quilt blocks”. These blocks will be added to a display that will hang in the Library through the rest of the summer.

Find us at the Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 19 or Pride in the Park on Saturday, June 27!

If you can’t make it to these events and still want to participate, stop by the Circulation Desk any time in June and ask for a quilt block template that you can work on with your own art supplies! Once you’re finished, turn your colored template in at the Circulation Desk!
