Synopsis:
Charles Dickens's 1843 novella A Christmas Carol tells the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who transforms into a generous and kind man after being visited by four ghosts on Christmas Eve.
Characters:
- Ebenezer Scrooge: The main character, a cold, stingy, and miserly old businessman who hates Christmas.
- Bob Cratchit: Scrooge’s overworked, underpaid, and kind-hearted clerk.
- Tiny Tim: Bob Cratchit’s young, disabled son who walks with a crutch.
- Jacob Marley: Scrooge’s deceased business partner, who returns as a ghost bound in heavy chains to warn Scrooge.
- Fred: Scrooge’s cheerful and optimistic nephew who constantly invites him to holiday dinner.
- Ghost of Christmas Past: A sprightly, glowing spirit who guides Scrooge through his earlier memories.
- Ghost of Christmas Present: A jovial, giant spirit who shows Scrooge how others celebrate the holiday right now.
- Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (Future): A silent, menacing, and shadowy phantom who reveals Scrooge's grim final fate.
- Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig: Scrooge's warm, joyful former employers who throw a lavish Christmas party.
- Belle (or Emily): Scrooge’s former fiancée who left him when his obsession with money overtook his love for her.
- Fan: Scrooge’s beloved younger sister who came to take him home from school as a boy.
- Young Scrooge / Boy Scrooge: The character shown at various stages of youth before turning cold.
- Mrs. Cratchit: Bob Cratchit’s fiercely protective and loving wife.
- The Cratchit Children: Martha, Peter, Belinda, and the younger Cratchits.
- Mrs. Dilber (or Charwoman): Scrooge’s Housekeeper/washerwoman.
- Charity workers: men or women collecting donations for the poor.
- Ignorance and Want: Two wretched children hidden beneath the robes of the Ghost of Christmas Present.
- Ensemble / Extras: Carolers, party guests, businessmen, tradespeople, and phantoms.
