This story is a heartfelt adventure featuring Beatrice Shelton, a retired burlesque queen who is longing for a real vacation—something more exciting than her usual trips to Helen, Georgia. A daring Caribbean cruise might be just what she needs, but she must persuade her best friend, Eaddy Mae Clayton, to join her rather than pray her away! Meanwhile, Magnolia Place Assisted Living becomes a whirlwind of chaos and comedy—Nurse Pat Jones is stirring up trouble, and residents like Imogene Fletcher, losing her memory, and Maude Jenkins, obsessed with her favorite soap opera and her own funeral plans, are caught in the crossfire. Sam Smith, a retired Elvis impersonator, keeps trying to woo every woman he sees, adding to the chaos.

As laughter erupts, our brave gals must outsmart the conniving Nurse Pat, unravel the mystery of the strange disappearances and mind-altering pills, and figure out what really happened to Doctor Head. Imogene goes undercover, Maude enters the Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Pageant, and chaos turns into comedy as they all fight to crack the case and make it onto that dream cruise!

A huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors—Shore Pines Senior Living, Monarch Gardens Memory Care Community, Azalea Gardens Senior Living, and CTR - Curry Transfer & Recycling —for supporting this vibrant community production.

Just a reminder again that auditions are today and tomorrow April 3rd-April 4th at 6:00pm looking forward to seeing you all there!!! :)

I am beyond excited (and honestly so honored) to be directing Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park with the Chetco Pelican Players this season! This show is full of heart, chaos, laughter, and those beautifully messy moments that make us human—and I cannot wait to bring it to life with an incredible cast.

This story follows newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter as they navigate love, life, and a tiny New York apartment that comes with more surprises than expected… including a quirky neighbor, a well-meaning (and slightly overwhelming) mother, and a dinner party that spirals into absolute comedic perfection. It’s witty, fast-paced, and full of those laugh-out-loud moments that sneak up on you.

🎭 We are looking to cast:
2 Women
4 Men

✨ Auditions:
📅 April 3rd & 4th
⏰ 6:00 PM
📍 Chetco Pelican Playhouse
1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings, OR

✨ Show Dates:
June 12th – 28th

Whether you’re a seasoned performer or someone who’s been waiting for the right moment to step on stage, I would absolutely love to see you at auditions. This is such a fun, character-driven show, and there is so much room to play, explore, and create something truly special together.

Come be part of the magic, the laughter, and maybe a little bit of beautiful chaos 💫

Summary:
Retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton desperately needs a vacation – and NOT another trip up to Helen, Georgia to see that “precious little German village for the umpteenth time.” A Sassy Seniors Cruise through the Caribbean may be just the ticket if she can just convince her best friend, Eaddy Mae Clayton, to stop praying and go with her. Unfortunately, things have not been very pleasant at Magnolia Place Assisted Living since Nurse Pat Jones began working there. The newest resident, Imogene Fletcher, is suddenly losing her memory. Maude Jenkins is obsessed with her favorite soap opera and planning her own funeral. Sam Smith, retired Elvis impersonator, keeps trying to bed every woman in the building. A mystery unfolds with laughter as the gals try to outsmart the evil Nurse Pat Jones and figure out why so many residents have been moved to “the dark side,” what exactly IS that mysterious pill, and what happened to Doctor Head? Hilarity ensues as Imogene goes undercover and Maude enters the Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Pageant to throw Pat off their trail. If they can solve the mystery, they may make it to the cruise ship after all.
