Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center We are a state-of-the-art performing arts center home to SDSU, the Brookings community, and region. Lost & Found is located in OLPAC Office 189.

The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art performing arts center that is the home for concerts, theatrical and dance performances, special events and SDSUโ€™s School of Performing Arts. Four primary venues offer: The Oscar Theatre (proscenium theatre with 841 seats), Larson Memorial Concert Hall (acoustically adjustable hall with 1,000 seats), Fishback Studio Theatre (black box t

heatre with 180 seats) and Founders Recital Hall (225 seats, with a 52-rank pipe organ) with all technical support needed for outstanding performance and audience experiences. The naming of The Oscar recognizes the vision and exceptional, unwavering generosity of the Pat and Dale Larson Family and the Larson Foundation. The Oscar is a comprehensive facility providing spaces for both the instruction and performance in dance, music and theatre. Developed by Design Architect Malcom Holzman, and acoustically engineered by David Kahn, the center proves that what an individual hears and sees during performances do correlate and that great art is made in great settings. Items will be held for 90 days before being donated. Wallets/Purses will be held for 1 week before being turned over to the University Police Department.

Anna Stemsrud, program assistant and hospitality coordinator for South Dakota State University's Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center, is being recognized for that impact in her selection to the prestigious International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) 30|UNDER|30 Class of 2026 ๐Ÿคฉ

As the sole South Dakota honoree in the 2026 class, Stemsrud was selected from a competitive field of nominees after completing a rigorous selection process that included a leadership nomination, written application, essay and live video submission.

โ€œThis recognition reflects Anna's dedication to creating outstanding experiences for patrons, performers and guests while continually advancing her professional expertise and leadership within the industry,โ€ said Christina Castillo, Larson Family Endowed Director of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Please join us in congratulating Anna Stemsrud, our Program Assistant and Hospitality Coordinator at The Oscar, on being selected for the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) 30|UNDER|30 Class of 2026! She will be officially recognized during IAVM's VenueConnect conference in August taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The organization's 30|UNDER|30 program celebrates rising professionals who are making meaningful contributions to venue management while demonstrating a commitment to growth and industry leadership. Through the program, participants gain access to advanced professional development opportunities, mentorship and networking with some of the industry's most respected leaders.

This honor is incredibly well deserved, and we couldn't be more proud to celebrate this achievement with her. Congratulations, Anna!

We would like to share that Jim Johnson will be inducted into the 2026 South Dakota Hall of Fame as one of ten amazing individuals.

"Dr. James L. Johnson, a theatre educator, spent 30 years at SDSU as Director of Theatre and Prairie Repertory Theatre, directing 105 plays and shaping over 13,000 students. He championed arts access in rural communities and was one of many instrumental figures in establishing the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center in Brookings. He retired in 2003 as SDSU Distinguished Professor Emeritus."

This Saturday, April 25th, Dr. Di**le will be conducting her last concert here at SDSU before retiring at the end of this semester. All proceeds will be going to the Dr. Laura Di**le Music Scholarship. There are still a few seats left that can be found using the link in the comments! We will see you all there!
