This is the post I have been dreading but here it is. Made a deal with Yankee lake to move the paintball field from Hubbard to Brookfield. The deal was instead of paying rent until March of 2024, when my season would kick off, i could do work around the property while building the new location. On top of everything I did on the buildings, plumbing, land and machinery I also mowed and w**d whipped the entire property every two weeks from the liquor store to the banquet hall. Helped when asked to set up banquets and pick up donated items like tables and display cases. I got lucky to find an electric outlet in a concession stand that was working because the transformer was taken so the building I cleaned out and reframed and walled and built my shop in could not have electricity. But we made it work. In the beginning of November I sat down with the owners and was told that they are going to lease the property to someone else because his father told him so and he is going to do whatever it takes to make money down there. I once again explained that I didn't have any business this year because I didn't advertise that I was open because we didn't have enough field to accommodate the players, this is why they were giving me to march to do so. I was also told in the beginning he was going to put a lease together he even contacted my insurance company and had them write my policy to cover the lease agreement which resulted in me paying a little extra so I thought no problem I'm getting the lease I was promised. Well they never had anything on paper themselves so they couldn't legally offer me the lease anyway. I took the word of a judge, someone I've known for years and respected only to be used and discarded even when I told him this will bankrupt me. I contacted his dad's law firm asking for him to give me a courtesy call to explain my side of the story and how I cost them nothing to have me there and how I'm extremely beneficial since I have 28 years in the hospitality business and construction/ maintenance which would be free for them to utilize. I was told by his partner that Mr O'Brien is a very successful man and has made a lot of money. My guess this means that poor white trash like me isn't worthy of his time. Gave him a few weeks to respond and nothing. I have no choice but to close the business permanently and tear down yet another location. I want to thank everyone who has showed us love and support over the years struggling to build a business for the community and for the youth. God knows it wasn't for the money although it would have been a beautiful thing. How I love the paintball/airsoft community, this love is what kept me going through all the madness and stress. We will be putting all the pro shop gear up for sale on the website to try and knock down the debt we are left with. Keeping the rental gear for now in hopes of acquiring a piece of property we can own without anyone being able to stop the build of a ballers paradise. Thank you, love you and God bless you.
