Can you believe tomorrow is already our last day?!
Day 4 kicked off the way every great hockey day should—with our morning team meeting! We talked about what was on the agenda, what everyone has been doing really well this week, and what we can all continue to improve on. We also ask the campers how we as coaches can be better because, believe it or not, they have some pretty good ideas! (Some... not all. 😂)
After our very serious business meeting, Coach Heather revealed yesterday's mystery project! The giant drawings everyone made were magically transformed into tiny versions overnight. (Don't ask how... coach secrets! 🤫) They turned out AWESOME and can now be made into keychains. A few campers decided not to color one, but everyone else has a pretty cool keepsake from camp.
Next up... MORNING WORKOUT! We started with a competitive game of Four Corners before moving into relay races. Let's just say... if hockey doesn't work out, some of these kids may have futures in track because they were FLYING!
Once everyone caught their breath, it was time to gear up and hit the ice.
Today's challenge began with a 5-Lap Stamina Test to see if all of this week's power skating has been paying off. We're happy to report... IT HAS! The campers powered through and looked stronger than they did on Monday. We followed that with one of our toughest skating drills of the week—using tires to practice longer skating pushes while turning our toes outward. It wasn't easy, but the campers worked hard and gave it everything they had, and that's exactly what we love to see.
Lunch might have been today's biggest entertainment.
Somehow the conversation turned into who could touch their tongue to their nose... who could wiggle their ears... and who had the weirdest hidden talents. I can officially confirm...
You all have some wonderfully weird kids. 😂
After lunch we headed outside for a little soccer.
Let's just say... we all came to the same conclusion...
We'll stick with hockey. ⚽➡️🏒
While we were outside, we spotted what looked like a family of little monkeys climbing the trees.
Don't worry...
The campers stayed on the ground.
Coach Heather has absolutely no interest in spending an afternoon at the hospital, so the climbing remained strictly for the wildlife. 😅
With the heat catching up to everyone, we headed back inside to cool off with a heated game of Musical Chairs. Congratulations to Parker, who came away with the victory! Weston gave it everything he had and nearly took Parker out in the championship round. It was a close call! 😂
Back on the ice for Round 2, Coach Ryan and Trevor put everyone through another fun drill session before finishing the day with everyone's favorite activities—Mighty Ducks hockey and ice sledding! There were smiles, laughs, and plenty of tired legs by the end of the day.
Tomorrow is our final day of Camp Chill! We can't wait to squeeze every last bit of fun out of this amazing week and make one more day of memories together.
