Can you believe tomorrow is already our last day?!

Day 4 kicked off the way every great hockey day should—with our morning team meeting! We talked about what was on the agenda, what everyone has been doing really well this week, and what we can all continue to improve on. We also ask the campers how we as coaches can be better because, believe it or not, they have some pretty good ideas! (Some... not all. 😂)

After our very serious business meeting, Coach Heather revealed yesterday's mystery project! The giant drawings everyone made were magically transformed into tiny versions overnight. (Don't ask how... coach secrets! 🤫) They turned out AWESOME and can now be made into keychains. A few campers decided not to color one, but everyone else has a pretty cool keepsake from camp.

Next up... MORNING WORKOUT! We started with a competitive game of Four Corners before moving into relay races. Let's just say... if hockey doesn't work out, some of these kids may have futures in track because they were FLYING!

Once everyone caught their breath, it was time to gear up and hit the ice.

Today's challenge began with a 5-Lap Stamina Test to see if all of this week's power skating has been paying off. We're happy to report... IT HAS! The campers powered through and looked stronger than they did on Monday. We followed that with one of our toughest skating drills of the week—using tires to practice longer skating pushes while turning our toes outward. It wasn't easy, but the campers worked hard and gave it everything they had, and that's exactly what we love to see.

Lunch might have been today's biggest entertainment.

Somehow the conversation turned into who could touch their tongue to their nose... who could wiggle their ears... and who had the weirdest hidden talents. I can officially confirm...

You all have some wonderfully weird kids. 😂

After lunch we headed outside for a little soccer.

Let's just say... we all came to the same conclusion...

We'll stick with hockey. ⚽➡️🏒

While we were outside, we spotted what looked like a family of little monkeys climbing the trees.

Don't worry...

The campers stayed on the ground.

Coach Heather has absolutely no interest in spending an afternoon at the hospital, so the climbing remained strictly for the wildlife. 😅

With the heat catching up to everyone, we headed back inside to cool off with a heated game of Musical Chairs. Congratulations to Parker, who came away with the victory! Weston gave it everything he had and nearly took Parker out in the championship round. It was a close call! 😂

Back on the ice for Round 2, Coach Ryan and Trevor put everyone through another fun drill session before finishing the day with everyone's favorite activities—Mighty Ducks hockey and ice sledding! There were smiles, laughs, and plenty of tired legs by the end of the day.

Tomorrow is our final day of Camp Chill! We can't wait to squeeze every last bit of fun out of this amazing week and make one more day of memories together.

Day 3 kicked off with something that was equal parts creative... and loud. Our campers started the morning with a balloon animal tutorial, and let's just say if you've ever wondered what 20 kids simultaneously blowing up balloons sounds like... imagine a flock of geese holding a kazoo concert. I could have used a pair of ear plugs before my morning coffee! 😂

Once everyone mastered the art of not popping their balloons (well... most of them!), our campers got to work creating some amazing balloon masterpieces. We saw dogs, flowers, swords, crowns, snakes, and even a few "abstract" creations that only their proud artists could identify. The creativity was incredible, and there were lots of laughs as balloons squeaked, twisted, and occasionally exploded into tiny colorful surprises.

After balloon duty was complete, it was time for our daily "Gear Up & Get Ready" routine. I have to say, these campers are becoming absolute pros at getting their hockey gear on. At this rate, they'll be timing us by the end of the week!

We hit the ice for a stickhandling lesson before putting those new skills to the test in a scrimmage game using a blue puck. The hustle, teamwork, and excitement were on full display, and every camper left the ice with a smile.

Mother Nature even decided to cooperate for a while and gave us a break from the rain, so we headed outside for some fresh air. We played a terrific game of baseball, worked on our batting skills, and then launched our Whirly Flys into the sky. There may or may not have been a few that reached "almost airplane" altitude. 🚀

Our afternoon craft is going to remain a mystery until tomorrow while we wait to see how our Shrinky D***s turn out (fingers crossed they shrink the way they're supposed to! 🤞). We did finish decorating our beautiful seashells, and the campers had a blast showing off their colorful creations.

Back on the ice for our afternoon skate, it was the matchup everyone had been waiting for...

🏒 Camp Chill vs. Tommy Triple A!

The campers gave it everything they had, but Tommy showed everyone why he's earned the nickname "Tommy Triple A." Congratulations to Tommy on the big win! We're incredibly proud of all the hard work he's put into his skating and hockey skills here at Grundy Arena. Way to represent!

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one day, the campers discovered what should absolutely be the next Olympic event... Chair Racing! The speed, the strategy, the laughter... someone call the Olympic Committee! 🪑🏅

We wrapped up another fantastic day cruising around on the hoverboards and finishing with a spirited game of Simon Says. It was the perfect ending to another action-packed day at Camp Chill!

Only two more days of camp adventures to go! We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow for more fun, more laughs, and maybe just a few less balloons. 😉

Have a wonderful evening, and we'll see everyone tomorrow!

What an action-packed day we had at camp today! We have a feeling your campers will be sleeping well tonight... and if they're not, it's probably because they're still talking about our haunted rink tour! 👻😂

We kicked off the morning with our daily camp huddle, where we went over everything on the schedule. Since Mother Nature decided to cooperate, we announced we'd be heading outside later for some fresh air and a game of kickball. Let's just say there were plenty of cheers when that news was shared!

After our morning warm-up and exercises, it was time for one of our favorite challenges—"Suit Up!" Campers put their superpowers to the test by getting all of their hockey gear on as independently as possible. (Some even surprised themselves!) Our coaches did their official "gear inspections" and helped with any stubborn skates or tricky laces before we hit the ice.

Morning ice featured power skating, skill work, and scrimmages, with everyone showing great effort and improving each day.

Once we came off the ice, campers unpacked, straightened up their gear areas, enjoyed lunch and snacks... and then the requests started rolling in:

"Can we do another haunted tour?!"

Well... we couldn't disappoint! This time we explored Rink A, which, according to several campers, was even spookier than yesterday. Whether there were actual ghosts or just some very creative imaginations... we'll let the campers tell you their version of the story! 👀👻

With the beautiful weather outside, we headed out for an epic game of kickball and some colorful chalk art. There were big kicks, great catches, lots of laughs, and some pretty impressive sidewalk masterpieces.

Back inside, it was time to lace up once again for our afternoon skate! Campers continued working on skating skills and drills before enjoying one of the highlights of the day—free ice time with sleds and our always-popular Mighty Ducks Scrimmage!

To finish off the day, campers traded in their sticks for paintbrushes as they showed off their artistic talents by creating adorable caterpillar crafts and watercolor paintings. We wrapped everything up with some energetic relay races that had everyone laughing, cheering, and racing to the finish.

Every day this group grows a little more confident, makes new friends, and creates memories that will last long after camp ends. We can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings!

See you in the morning!

Camp Chill Day 1: We Survived! 😄🏒

Good evening, Camp Chill families!

Day 1 is officially in the books... and I'm happy to report that everyone survived! (Even after the very scary ghost tour... more on that later. 👻)

The morning started with campers arriving full of excitement, followed by our camp safety talk. We introduced all of our camp counselors and coaches before going around and introducing every camper. It was great seeing so many familiar faces returning this year, and we were especially excited to welcome lots of new campers into the Camp Chill family!

Next came one of our favorite parts of camp: The Do-It-Yourself Challenge! Every camper is encouraged to put on their own equipment before asking for help. If they get stuck, our counselors don't just do it for them—we teach them how to do it themselves. It's amazing how many campers discover they can do something once they know how! Everyone worked hard, showed patience, and gained a little more independence today. We were so proud of them.

Once everyone looked like hockey players instead of piles of equipment, we headed to Rink B for an awesome power skating session with Coach Harper. The campers worked on edge control, balance, core strength, and power skating before finishing with everyone's favorite game: Sharks and Minnows! There were lots of smiles, lots of skating, and thankfully, only pretend sharks.

After some well-earned snack, lunch, and break time, the campers convinced us to give them a "tour" of the rink. Somewhere along the way it mysteriously became... The Camp Chill Ghost Tour. No ghosts were actually spotted, but thanks to a few mischievous counselors turning off lights and making spooky noises outside the locker rooms, there was plenty of screaming, laughing, and nervous giggling. The campers immediately wanted to go again... and again... and again. We politely informed them that the ghosts had gone back to sleep.

We also squeezed in some air hockey before it was time to gear back up. The campers did an excellent job keeping their equipment organized (with a few friendly reminders), and that made getting ready for the second skate much smoother.

Back on the ice, the campers worked on edge work, hockey stops, and transitions. Everyone made great progress, and it was exciting to watch their confidence grow throughout the day.

Special shout-out to Gideon, who officially found his "skate legs!" He's flying around the ice now and looked fantastic this afternoon!

Of course, no Camp Chill day would be complete without some fun, so we finished the skate with ice sledding, which had everyone laughing from start to finish. Before leaving the ice, we also gathered everyone together for a fun camp photo shoot!

To wrap up the day, we came inside for Ice Hockey Bingo, which turned out to be a huge hit! We handed out prizes and took a break to celebrate Walker's 10th birthday! Happy Birthday, Walker! 🎉

Finally, we ended the day with one last favorite game: The Floor Is Lava! Somehow everyone escaped safely.

Overall, Day 1 was an incredible success. The campers worked hard, learned new skills, made new friends, laughed a lot, and had an absolute blast. Our counselors had just as much fun getting to know everyone, and it was a pleasure meeting all of your amazing kids.

Thank you for sharing them with us. We can't wait to do it all again tomorrow for Day 2!

See you in the morning!

I was so touched to hear from a former student’s mom sharing that her son’s hockey team just won the National Championship! 🏆

Knowing they thought to reach out and share that moment with me truly means so much. I still remember Noah's humble beginnings in our Learn to Skate Hockey classes—it’s incredible to see how far he’s come.

I couldn’t be more proud of his accomplishments and feel so honored to have been part of his journey. Moments like this remind me why I love what I do. ❤️
