Yesterday, it was just paper in an envelope.

Soon—
it’s a room full of color, voices, and stories we haven’t met yet.

The 2026 season is on its way.

You know it’s almost the opening reception when the new window cling goes up! We love this little ritual — seeing each exhibit’s “formal” announcement makes it feel real.

Working behind the scenes, we can’t wait to open our doors for the 2026 season. Stay tuned… the best part is just beginning!

A watercolor painting inspired by a photo taken out of a taxi window on 42nd Street — catching the glow of Red Lobster’s sign and the blur of a New York street. A wonderful memory of a trip taken to attend the Anthony Quinn Foundation event, one of those trips that inspired long after the cab ride ended. A bit of a challenge - but fun.

This little city moment is resting at the Graham Gallery during our winter break. We’re keeping things quiet but always happy to share — just reach out if you’d like to stop by for a visit.

As we’re putting the finishing touches on our upcoming season’s schedule, we’re finding it hard to believe that the Graham Gallery is heading into its fifth season.

Five years already? Somehow it feels like we just opened our doors…and also like Graham Gallery has been part of this community forever. How does time move so fast and still leave so many layers of memory behind?

Whether you’ve been here since day one or just popped in this winter, we’d love to know: what’s your earliest (or favorite) memory of the Gallery. Swipe to see a few of ours.

While the sky outside leans gray and quiet, “Tomatoes” by Suzi Graham is dazzling with color — a burst of summer right when we need it most.

Stop by and linger a bit with this vibrant acrylic painting and imagine those August warm days returning.

“Tomatoes” is on view during winter break — as bright and enchanting as a sunbeam sneaking through the studio window. Call to schedule an appointment and bring a little summer back into your week.

What color do you crave most when everything outside looks gray?

There is a particular kind of winter hush that has settled over the gallery now that the snowblowers are quiet and the sidewalks have cleared.

The work of Gary and Suzi Graham remain on the gallery walls during winter break. This is what the gallery looks like when it’s just the two of them — quiet, cozy, and tended to with the same devotion they bring to their exhibiting artists’ art. A frame adjusted here. A painting reconsidered there.

Graham Gallery is on winter break, but the work of caring for art is never truly finished. We’re dreaming of spring openings, new exhibitions, and seeing your familiar faces walk through our door again.

Until then, stay warm, stay creative, and don’t hesitate to give us a call to stop in from winter and enjoy the warmth of the art.

Winter break for the Grahams is anything but idle. Too cold for Plein air - and most recently in Rhode Island - way too snowy. Instead of jetting off somewhere warmer and snow free, you can often find them with other Urban Sketchers, venturing all over the state to places both well known as well as ones more obscure.

And that’s how Gary ended up at a brewery in Cumberland this past Saturday - with fellow sketchers from all over the state. It’s a wonderful way to maintain a painting practice - creating a record of places and scenes. Many sketches make that leap to full-fledged paintings, while others band together in sketchbooks documenting people and places. You can be sure that many sketches will make that leap and will be in the Gallery come spring.

While we’re on winter break, the gallery is open by appointment—and always happy to welcome you in for a chat about sketching, painting and process.

There’s a snowstorm brewing, but inside, “Provincial Window” by Gary Graham, it’s all warmth and sunshine.
This watercolor just glows—with the Golden Light of that last hour before sunset with long, dramatic shadows, and a warm golden glow. It’s exactly what we need to look at while we brace for another round of snow.

“Provincial Window” is available to view during winter break—we’d love for you to stop in, linger a little, and experience that glow in person. Call 401-293-0657 to set up a post-snowstorm appointment.

Wishing everyone a little calm and safety before the snow rolls in. Stay warm, stay cozy—and know that spring will come!

Three winters ago, Gary Graham spent his “time off” hand-sewing one—because apparently it’s easier to sketch from scratch than to find the right book.

He called it “just a winter project,” but the devotion says otherwise. Some projects just stitch themselves right in.

He swears it’s just “winter break energy,” but we know this is what happens when inspiration refuses to wait for supplies.

While the gallery enjoys a winter break, we certainly aren’t slowing down! We’re thrilled to share that Gary’s watercolor, “Springtime on the Lawn,” has been accepted into the upcoming New England Watercolor Society Members Exhibit, fittingly entitled “Spring Into Art”.

Gary found inspiration for this piece during an alumni weekend at the University of Virginia — a quiet moment on the “lawn”, a wonderful view of a beautiful place. May we all be trusting that “yes, Virginia. . .”, there will be spring!

Warmer days (and new exhibits!) are just around the corner.
