Paul Olson paints the moment something stops him in his tracks, or, by his own description, “smacks me right between the eyes”.

Often that moment is on Narragansett Bay, from the shore or from his small boat (see the last photo!), where the light, weather, and water never quite repeat themselves. Paul has spent years looking closely at the natural world. He works mainly in oil now, with direct, energetic strokes and an eye for the unexpected beauty in familiar places.

In his words: “The best paintings happen when something. . . catches me by surprise and I just have to try to capture that feeling right away… I think I am trying to share something beautiful I have found.”

We’re glad to have Paul’s paintings here, alongside Cathy Chin’s, in “East Bay Unbound” through Saturday, October 17th.

We’re open weekly, Thursday and Friday, 4-7pm and Saturday, 2-5pm. We’re also gladly open by appointment or when the flag is out. Do stop by.

One of Suzi’s paintings is now headed to Sherrie’s home, and we couldn’t be happier about where it’s landing. There’s something quietly wonderful about artists seeing each other’s work and choosing to live with it.
