For those of you that are new here, weโre so glad you found our page! Whether youโre brand new to the rodeo world or have been following along with us for years, our mission is simple: ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐ง๐ค๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐จ๐ฅ๐ค๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ข ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐ ๐ช๐ฅ.
Based out of Hayden, Colorado and Ogallala, Nebraska, Rocky Mountain Mini Broncs / KH Bucking Horses is a stock contracting business dedicated to building the future of rough stock events for youth ages 5 and up. Established in 2009 by the Hayes family, what started as a small family bet and dream has grown into a full youth roughstock program focused on creating opportunities for young athletes to learn, grow, and succeed in rodeo.
From day one, our goal has been to help bridge the gap between Mutton Bustinโ and the next level of rodeo competition by providing safe, quality stock for contestants of all ages and experience levels. We give kids the chance to learn the fundamentals of bull riding, ba****ck riding, saddle bronc riding, and ranch bronc riding while building confidence, responsibility, sportsmanship, and work ethic both in and out of the arena.
In 2020, Kaitlynn Hayes (now Wood) took over the business and carried the dream forward. Since then, Rocky Mountain Mini Broncs has expanded to include mini bulls along with a wide variety of horses ranging from beginner-level ponies to pro-level broncs. Every rider is carefully matched with stock that fits their age, size, and skill level to ensure a safe and positive experience.
Three of the things most important to us are:
โข Holding riders accountable
โข Creating a safe and positive environment for youth
โข Building the future of roughstock riders by giving them a solid foundation
Over the years, weโve planted seeds across Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and many other states by helping youth get involved in roughstock events and creating opportunities for kids to chase big dreams. Today, many former contestants from our program have gone on to compete successfully at the high school, college, amateur, and professional rodeo levels โ including PRCA World Champions.
We also host clinics and practices throughout the year that focus not only on riding skills, but also on safety, sportsmanship, fundamentals, responsibility, and having fun. Our program is built on the belief that rodeo is about much more than the 6 or 8 seconds โ itโs about determination, community, family, giving back, and the life lessons learned along the way.
Rocky Mountain Mini Broncs has proudly been involved with the Junior Roughstock Association (JRA), Jr. NFR, and Jr. American, helping assist with the growth of miniature ba****ck and saddle bronc riding opportunities while hosting regional qualifying events for the Central Region. Watching kids earn their way onto some of the biggest stages in youth rodeo is one of the greatest reminders of why we do what we do.
Alongside Rocky Mountain Mini Broncs is ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ช๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐ง๐จ๐๐จ, where we raise futurity and big bucking horses with a focus on producing top-quality animal athletes that showcase the very best of roughstock events. Together, Rocky Mountain Mini Broncs and KH Bucking Horses create opportunities for youth ages 5โ18 while helping preserve and grow the future of rodeo.
Community involvement is a huge part of what we do. Our mission is to introduce children to the sport of bronc riding and roughstock events in a fun, safe, and family-friendly atmosphere while also providing exciting entertainment for rodeo fans and communities.
We proudly welcome contestants of all experience levels, including first-time riders. We provide beginner-friendly stock, ba****ck riggings, and safety gear to help kids safely experience the sport for the very first time.
We are incredibly thankful for our team, the families, sponsors, supporters, and especially the kids who make all of this possible. Rodeo is a lifestyle, and it takes all of us working together to keep it alive for the next generation.
From mini broncs and mini bulls to big horses, from the practice pen to the bright lights of the arena, weโre here to cheer on every ride, every lesson, and every step forward.
