We (Cal & Whitney Stone) are passionate about music and how it relates to economic development in communities -- the importance of building and branding a live music series, festivals and other music-related events, as well as the impact it has on the well-being of a community, its residents and business owners. Our company’s roots go back to March 2002 with a Wynton Marsalis fundraising concert a

t the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, and we officially incorporated as 2 Stones Events in June 2009. Larger productions include the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Ramsey Lewis, George Winston and Branford Marsalis. We're into our third Jazz @ The Point series, presented by Financial Architects Inc., as well as our second Secunda Sounds series -- Classic His (with a twist!). Likewise, we've forged a three-year partnership with the City of Novi for The Main Event Novi festival in "downtown" on Aug. 10-11, 2018.

2 Stones Events also helps area clubs/restaurants and other venues with live music bookings (Brighton Bar & Grill, Baronette Renaissance Hotel, Buon Gusto, The Main Crossing, Leaf Barley Vine, Mt. Brighton, Hyatt Fireside, Michigan Beer Company, Downtown Main Martini Bar & Grille, The Grapevine, Lake Street Tavern and the Tipping Point Theatre). We also book musicians (and occasionally DJs) for weddings and private and corporate parties throughout the year. We are fortunate to work with incredibly talented musicians who are not only professional, but also some of the best in the world. In the nearly 25 years we’ve been booking musicians, probably in the thousands by now, we’ve never met a musician as humble, sweet, caring, kind, and talented as Bobby Murray. As classy as it gets. The late Etta James could’ve chose ANY guitarist, but she had Bobby by her side on the road for 23 years.

We got to unleash his Love Letters From Detroit twice – once at Brighton’s Smokin’ festival, and again at Auburn Hills’ SeptemBEERfest. Bobby wore a suit and tie, surrounded himself with the best players (who also looked fabulous), and put on spectacular tributes to Etta. The show has impressed us so much that we booked it for our upcoming Brighton Blues Bash! 2 on Sept. 13.

We’ll figure that out, but right now we’d just like to remember what a special person Bobby Murray was and to let everyone know the Detroit music scene – and the blues world – just lost a giant. RIP, Bobby.
