Never available except on 14 MHS LPs, Artur Balsam's cycle of the works of Haydn was recorded in the late 1960s, at the forefront of the explosion of interest in the music of Joseph Haydn.

For the first time, this set is available outside of the United States. Only available as part of the Musical Heritage Society in the US, the set received intermittent distribution in the UK and was never available outside of those countries.

Available May 7 - the first two releases from the world's first complete Haydn symphony cycle - and one of the best kept Haydn secrets. The Vienna Chamber Orchestra completed their Haydn symphony cycle in 1971, before Decca's Antal Dorati-conducted set with the Philharmonia Hungarica. But it was only issued complete on 49 LPs in the United States, and distribution outside the US was nearly non-existent.

Over the next few months, the entire cycle will be available on all the major streaming services, and classical music streaming services worldwide.

Gramophone wrote of the issue on CD in 2018: "The impression in symphony after symphony is of true engagement, with a pleasing elegance to phrasing and consideration for the character of the music from moment to moment…Get beyond the compromised LP sound and Maerzendorfer takes the listener on a journey through this magnificent symphonic odyssey in which his commitment to every moment is revealing and riveting."
