Workshop Description: Starting with the structure and proportions of the human head and face, students will then review basic facial anatomy and features. The course will then cover different methods of “blocking in” large shapes first, then working large to small, general to specific and finally rendering the details to establish an accurate likeness and sense of character. The later part of the workshop will focus on value accuracy and edge control to bring an emotional and narrative content to your portrait work. Students will work in charcoal, graphite and conté and will have live models, skeletons, plaster casts and anatomy charts to reference in every session. There will a high level of one-on-one time and attention from the instructor given the small group size. All model fees are included in the price.
