🦆☀️ Soaking up the last golden days of summer, one lazy lap around the pond at a time.

As the season starts winding down, our ducks aren't in any hurry, still gliding, dabbling, and making the most of the warm water while it lasts. Come catch a little summer magic before it slips into fall.

🐐🌳 Reach for it!

Our Goral isn't afraid to stand tall (literally) for a fresh leaf snack. These small goat-antelopes are native to the mountains of Asia, where their agility and grippy hooves let them scale near-vertical rock faces with ease — here at the Zoo, a tree branch does just fine.

Come see this little climber in action on your next visit!

🐴 Small horse, smaller patience for whoever's standing between her and the camera.

Meet our miniature horses over at the Ali Cohen Miniature Horse Yard. Despite their size, minis have the same big personalities (and bigger opinions) as their full-sized cousins.

K-man in motion 🐊
Yacare caiman like K-man are built for powerful, efficient movement, whether they’re cruising through the water or making a slow, steady move on land. Watching them up close is a reminder that sometimes the quietest moments are the most impressive.

See K-man and our other incredible animals during your next Zoo visit.

We are heartbroken to share that Cain, our beloved howler monkey, has passed. Cain was born in '92 and called Beardsley Zoo home since 2015, in that time he became something of a legend around here. He was recognized as the oldest male howler monkey living in any AZA accredited zoo, a title that made him one of a kind, not just at our zoo, but in the country.

Cain passed due to age-related health complications at over 34 years old, an incredible lifespan for his species and a real testament to the care he received from our keepers. Anyone who visited Cain knew he had a personality and a way of making people stop, look up, and smile.

From his moods and mischievous streak to his favorite keepers, Cain was impossible not to adore. We are grateful for the moments we shared with him. 🐒💛
