🌈 Throwback Thursday 🌈

As we look back at Greater Bridgeport Pride through the years, we're reminded how far our community has come and how proud we are to have been part of that journey.

Seventeen years ago, Bridgeport Art Trail's Same-Sex Art Show was the first event of its kind in Connecticut, helping spark conversations, celebrate LGBTQ+ artists, and serve as an early catalyst for what would eventually grow into Greater Bridgeport Pride and the Bridgeport Pride Center.

We're grateful for the partnerships, the artists, the advocates, and the community members who have helped make that growth possible.

We can't wait to celebrate Pride with everyone this weekend. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤

We're excited to launch a new series that takes you behind the scenes of the people, places, and stories that make Bridgeport's arts community so vibrant. From artist studios and galleries to local businesses, performances, and community events, we'll be exploring the creativity that exists here all year long.

This journey will lead us to the Bridgeport Art Trail this fall, but the story starts now.

Whether you're discovering Bridgeport for the first time or seeing it through a new lens, we invite you to come along and experience the city through its art.

Originally from Peru and now based in Bridgeport, visual artist Samuel Pintos shares his experience participating in the Bridgeport Art Trail and what it means to connect with audiences through creativity, culture, and community.

Earlier this spring, we had the honor of featuring acclaimed artist, poet, playwright, and cultural storyteller Iyaba Ibo Mandingo as part of the FAT/PHAT exhibition at City Lights Gallery.

In this powerful clip, Iyaba shares an excerpt from his moving poem Saartjie Baartman, a work that invites us to reflect on history, identity, resilience, and the stories that continue to shape our world.

As we look back on the FAT/PHAT exhibition, we’re reminded of the power of art and poetry to challenge, inspire, and spark meaningful conversation.

🎨 Artist of the Month: Luis Lopez 🎨

As we celebrate Pride Month, we're thrilled to spotlight Bridgeport artist Luis Lopez as our June 2026 Artist of the Month!

A photographer, muralist, painter, and creative force, Luis has become an important part of Bridgeport's vibrant arts community. Through his work, he continues to tell stories, spark conversations, and inspire others to embrace their creativity.

Luis is also known for using his talents to support local organizations, community initiatives, and events throughout Greater Bridgeport, helping strengthen the connections between art, culture, and community.

We're honored to celebrate Luis this month and the incredible impact he continues to make through his artistry and dedication to our city.

🏳️‍🌈 City Lights Gallery presents OUTwork, the 16th annual LGBTQ+ art exhibit, opening on June 20th in conjunction with the Greater Bridgeport Pride celebration from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

OUTwork explores issues of gender, LGBTQ+ life, love and relationships, family, social justice, bias, personal stories and perspectives, pride, current issues of 2026, etc. The intention is to support the greatest possible inclusion and to create a platform for people of diverse backgrounds to meet, exchange ideas, and express their support and respect.

Stop by before or after the afternoon Pride March for light bites, refreshments, and an exceptional selection of art by q***r artists and allies. 🌈 🎨
