Last weekend for our Red, White, and You retreat, five Purple Heart veterans spent the weekend fishing for redfish and trout, each paired with their own personal guide, followed by an unforgettable afternoon airboating through the marsh. But while the fishing was outstanding, the greatest catch was something we never could have planned.

As the retreat unfolded, we realized that every participant had previously met at least one other veteran on a past Warrior Bonfire retreat. What could have been a group of strangers quickly felt like a family reunion. The camaraderie was immediate, conversations picked up where they had left off, and the sense of community was stronger than ever.

As the Warrior Bonfire family continues to grow across the country, moments like these remind us that every retreat strengthens a lifelong network of support. Our safety net keeps getting bigger and stronger!

A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding fishing guides: Phantom Charters, Lee Smith, Brandon Kinchen, Brian Frederick, and Gary McElduff. Thank you as well to our incredible airboat crew: Donnie Moran, Jason Melinda Gipson, Lane Gipson, Jace Gipson, Taylor Ridgaway, and Chase Hebert for making the marsh come alive with an unforgettable experience.

We're also incredibly grateful to Lee Smith and Justin Peltier of 4-Horn Industrial for providing lodging, and to Keestan Cole with Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC for helping keep everyone well fed throughout the weekend.

Thank you to every volunteer, guide, and supporter who helped make this retreat possible. Because of you, our veterans don't just leave with great memories—they leave with lifelong friends.

A Message from Mayor Aaron Roccaforte

As I reflect on this past weekend’s Red, White & You Celebration, I’m reminded once again of what makes Bridge City such an incredible place to call home. This weekend wasn’t just about great music, amazing food, or incredible entertainment, it was about community. It was about neighbors coming together to celebrate our country, supporting one another, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

First, I want to personally thank our City employees. From weeks of planning to the long hours spent setting up, working throughout the event, and cleaning up afterward, your dedication made this celebration possible. Much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. I am proud to serve alongside such an outstanding team.

To our volunteers, thank you for giving your time and energy to help make this event a success. Your willingness to serve is one of the many reasons Bridge City is such a great community.

Thank you to all of our vendors, food trucks, carnival operators, sponsors, and community partners for helping create an outstanding experience for everyone who attended.

A special thank you goes to our entertainers. Ryan Foret & Foret Tradition delivered an incredible performance as our Friday night headliner, bringing energy and excitement to kick off the weekend. On Saturday, Chip Darby did an outstanding job opening the evening before John Foster took the stage and closed out the festival with an unforgettable performance. Thank you all for sharing your talents with Bridge City.

To Sky Elements, thank you for the spectacular drone show. It was a breathtaking finale to the weekend and a unique experience that brought thousands of eyes to the sky. It was a perfect way to celebrate Independence Day while showcasing innovation and creativity.

I also want to extend a very special thank you to the Warrior Bonfire Program. Your mission of serving our nation’s combat veterans is inspiring, and we were honored to have this year’s celebration benefit such an incredible organization. Thank you for everything you do for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

To our Bridge City Police Department, Fire Department, EMS personnel, Orange County emergency responders, and all of the public safety personnel who worked throughout the weekend, thank you for your professionalism and dedication. Because of you, families were able to enjoy the celebration safely.

Finally, to the citizens of Bridge City and everyone who traveled here to celebrate with us, Thank You! Your support, your enthusiasm, and your community spirit are what made this year’s Red, White & You Celebration such an overwhelming success. Seeing families, friends, and neighbors enjoying time together is exactly what this event is all about.

Events like this don’t happen because of one person, they happen because an entire community comes together with a shared purpose. This weekend was another reminder that Bridge City is more than just a city; it’s a family.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the 2026 Red, White & You Celebration such a memorable weekend. It is truly an honor to serve as your Mayor.
