This year's Bangor Book Festival kickoff begins at 7pm tonight! Joining the festival are poets Leonore Hildebrandt, Christian Barter (current Acadia National Park Centennial Poet Laureate), Kathleen Ellis and Martin Steingesser (former Portland Maine Poet Laureate, 2007-2009).

Following tonight's poetry reading will be a performance of the late Don Stratton’s On Immortality involving narration with singing and a jazz quintet. It is the last piece Don wrote before he passed away last spring, and it’s especially meaningful as the Bangor Public Library has archived many of his compositions in a special collection.

On Immortality
A Dialogue by George Santayana
Set to music by Don Stratton
Nancy Ellen Ogle and Rich Tozier, Narrators
Accompanied by Dan Barrett and the Swingmatism Jazz Ensemble

All programs at this year’s Bangor Book Festival are free and open to the public.

Join us for special book festival events at the Bangor Public Library on October 14 & 15, 2016.
