36 W Jordan St, Brevard, North Carolina Founded by Kristen Necessary, the studio launched in 2015 based on the idea that connecting with original contemporary art makes everyone's life better and the belief that this art should not only be found in museums and high-end galleries. In service to our mission to connect more art to your everyday life, we celebrate the process of printmaking for its rich history and egalitarian tradition of making fine art at affordable prices. We strive to create exceptional and accessible original art using the techniques of woodcut, etching, screenprint, and letterpress. All of our artwork is hand drawn, all of our printing blocks handcrafted, and each impression individually printed by hand on an antique printing press in our studio. Your source for beautifully curated original art and gifts,Starfangled Press also represents a growing list of exceptional regional artists working in print.

It’s not a card you want to celebrate, but sometimes it’s the card you need. ❤️

I’ve got a few new designs in the Starfangled Press sympathy collection, and this is one of the favorites.

I love Appalachia, faults and all. But I’m not interested in trading one flat stereotype (backwards hillbillies) for another (spooky cryptids) while real, everyday problems get ignored.

One day I had a thought: what if a cute little mothman had a long dry academic statement to tell the world, and what if I put that on a sticker?

Dumb as a fox, as my Dad used to say. At least I hope so! 😁

One of our employees is moving on, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, they left us with some really kind words:

“I really don’t want to have to do this for I have absolutely loved working under you and just being in the space that you have beautifully created. You are running an incredible business and truly are a great, kind boss. Working at Starfangled these past few months has been a gift.”

Now we are looking for someone new to join our small but mighty team as a Weekend Retail + Studio Manager.

It’s a part-time, in-person job with regular hours roughly every other weekend on Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 11- 4. With the occasional opportunity for extra hours, particularly in the summer.

Could this be for you?

If you’re detail-oriented, love art and friendly conversation, but also don’t mind a little quiet time surrounded by prints, we’d love to hear from you! (Or send someone you know our way!)
