Imagine using an object that has been carefully loved and shaped by hand. One where the details, wether tended to or not, have been an intentional decision. An object made to serve and fit a person well, one that if cared for could last a thousand years or more. I view and make mugs in this way. I am asking you to invest in fewer nicer things. Mugs are one way i choose to love the world. Imagine a life surrounded by objects made only in this way. You may say i'm a dreamer...

Following my gut on this one... The first person who planted the seed of clay in my heart was a passionate orchid enthusiast, skilled outdoorsman, and an inspired artist. I could not briefly state how powerfully i was impacted by his example. I continue to find my own path, but at times i feel his lead wandering back into my work and mixing with my own perspective. This piece is from about eight years ago and references a, now rare, local terrestrial orchid by common name Yellow Lady Slipper. Swing for the fences friends, life is impossibly vast and so very brief.
