Cast Spotlight: Charlie Burchill as Robroy Farquhar, Feste, Sebastian, and Priest. Some actors play one role. Some play two. Charlie Burchill is taking on four.
In Bard in Brevard’s unique adaptation of Twelfth Night, Charlie portrays local theater pioneer Robroy Farquhar, founder of Flat Rock Playhouse, while also stepping into the Shakespearean roles of Feste, Sebastian, and Priest. It’s a combination of local history, music, comedy, and storytelling that makes him a perfect fit for this production.
What is your theater background?
💬 “I was on stage multiple times a year in high school in both school and community productions. I then took a break for a couple years to focus on music in college before returning to theatre to do mostly tech with some on-stage appearances during the last years of college.”
Charlie has performed throughout Western North Carolina with organizations including Asheville Community Theatre, Brevard Little Theatre, Hendersonville Theatre, HART, 35 Below, and The Attic Salt Theatre Company. For the past eight years, he also also teaches technical theater classes and serves as head carpenter at Brevard High School.
What are you most looking forward to about Twelfth Night?
💬 “Although I have studied Shakespeare and worked on a number of his plays from the tech side, I have never performed in one of his plays for an audience, so I am looking forward to the opportunity to try that.”
What is an interesting fact about you?
💬 “I am human. Everything about me is interesting, and nothing is.”
We’ll let audiences decide for themselves 😄 Come see Charlie and the rest of the standard cast in Twelfth Night tonight at 7:30pm!
